DSS records comfortable win against Quick Amersfoort

ALMERE (Neth.) -
DSS recorded a comfortable 14-4 victory on Saturday (August 26) against Quick Amersfoort to win its third game in the Promotion/Relegation Pool.
The second game in this series will be played on Sunday in Haarlem.
DSS trailed 3-1 after four innings, then scored three runs in the fifth inning to turn the game its way.
In the final three at bats of the game, DSS added ten more runs (including five in the eighth) to win comfortably.
DSS collected 13 basehits with five players hitting two hits.
Mitchel Dautzenberg scored four runs, while Odion Gouverneur scored three.
Bayron Cornelisse went the distance for DSS.
Cornelisse, who primarily had been a closer in his career, turned into a starter in the past few weeks and does fine in this position.
Today, he struckout eight batters and gave up only five hits.
Remian Denis had two of the five hits of Quick Amersfoort, which were a triple and a homerun.
Trailing 1-0, Quick Amersfoort (which made five errors) took a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning when Denis hit his homerun.
In the fifth, DSS answered with three runs to re-take the lead on a basesloaded force play-grounder by Odion Gouverneur, a throwing error and a sacrifice fly by Omar Williams.
Today's game was played at the site of Almere '90 in Almere, as the home site of Quick Amersfoort is being prepared for the European Super Cup Men Softball-tournament.
Quick Amersfoort also will play its home game next weekend in Almere.
