THE HAGUE (Neth.) -
Storks nipped Pickles UVV 4-3 on Saturday (August 26) to win its first game in the Promotion/Relegation Pool.
The series continues on Sunday in Vleuten.
Last week, Storks played two close games against De Glaskoning Twins.
After leading in the second game of that series, Storks lost 4-2 in eleven innings.
UVV then split its series against Quick Amersfoort, making this its second loss.
Storks took a 2-0 lead today in the first inning when former big league-player Boudewijn van Elswijk hit a 2-run homerun.
In the top of the seventh, UVV scored three runs when Jelle Blaauw delivered a baseclearing, 3-run single with two outs.
The lead was shortlived, as Van Elswijk homered again in the bottom of the eighth to bring Storks alongside.
The home team then won in the ninth inning on a walk-off walk.
With one out and runners on first and second base, Jonah Van Bemmelen took over the pitching for UVV.
He saw both runners advance on a wild pitch, then hit Quinlan de Windt with a pitch, which loaded the bases.
The game ended when he walked Jurriaan van Dijk.
