Monkeys win big to take lead in Taiwan Series

TAOYUAN (Taiwan) -
Lamigo Monkeys recorded a big 14-5 win in Game 2 of the best-of-seven Taiwan Series on Sunday (October 29) against Chinatrust Brothers.
With that, the Monkeys took a 2-1 lead in the Series, as the team began with an one-win advantage for winning both the first and second half of the regular season.
Brothers won 8-5 on Saturday.
Game Three will be played on Tuesday-evening in Taichung.
At Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium, Brothers initially took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Tung-jung Wu doubled off of starter Darin Downs, then next hitter Ssu-chi Chou was hit by a pitch.
A throwing error in a double-steal then accounted for the first run.
Tzu-hsien Chan then walked, but was picked off by Downs, who then gave up a 2-run homerun to Chih-hao Chang that made it a 3-0 score.
The Monkeys got a run back in its first at bat off of starter Orlando Roman, thanks to a double by Hung-yu Lin, who batted in four runs tonight.
However, Brothers took more distance in following innings.
In the third, Chih-hao Chang singled in a run, then another run was scored in the fourth on a double by Ssu-chi Chou to lift the lead to 5-1.
Hereafter, the team was silenced and was held scoreless in the remainder of the game.
After having scored a run in the third, the Monkeys turned the game its way with a 6-run rally in the bottom of the fourth, giving the team an 8-5 lead.
After giving up a double to Yin-lun Lan, Roman was relieved with one out, but his reliever Ta-yuan Kuan gave up four more runs.
A single by Chun-hsui Chen gave the Monkeys a 6-5 lead, then Yen-wen Kuo followed with a 2-run double that made it an 8-5 score.
Kuo was 4-for-5, scored once and batted in four runs.
The Monkeys then scored two runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth ining to increase the lead to 14-5.
The team collected 18 basehits.
