ROTTERDAM (Neth.) -
Orlando Yntema, pitcher of Curaçao Neptunus and the Netherlands National Team has been hospitalized since last Wednesday.
The past few weeks, Yntema was bothered by stomach-pains and was scrubbed from the pitching rotation of Neptunus' series last week against L&D Amsterdam Pirates and this week against De Glaskoning Twins.
As several stories circulated the past few days, Neptunus confirmed on Sunday-evening (April 30) that the 31-year old righthander has been hospitalized with the board issuing a statement on its website.

In February of this year, Yntema was with the Netherlands Kingdom Team in training-camp in Arizona (USA), then participated with the Orange-squad in the World Baseball Classic.
After returning from the global event, Yntema pitched for Neptunus during the North Sea Cup in The Hague in the exhibition season.
Shortly thereafter, he traveled to the Dominican Republic due to family-circumstances.
After coming back to the Netherlands, he was scheduled to take his turn into the 3-man pitching rotation of Neptunus, but was left out after he was bothered with stomach-problems.
The statement of the board reads as follows:
,,Orlando Yntema has been hospitalized on Wednesday in the Havenziekenhuis.
He was treated at the AMC, but there, no conclusive diagnosis could be made regarding his complaints, which were stomach-problems, unable to hold food and drinks and dehydration.
At the Havenziekenhuis blood-tests followed, resulting in the probable diagnosis of metabolic syndrome.
As the Havenziekenhuis had no intensice care-bed available, he was transported the same evening tot the Franciscus Hospital.
There, further tests and examinations were performed.
Coming week, he will undergo surgery regarding a thicking near his thyroid gland.
