Both teams got close to open the score in one of the first three innings.
UVV-starter Kevin van Veen walked lead-off hitter Kevin Nieveld in the top of the first inning, but he was forced out.
In the bottom of the first, DSS-starter Donny Breek got two quick outs.
He then gave up singles to Randy Daal and Sergino Martis.
When Daal tried to advance to third base on the single by Martis, he was eliminated there on a throw from rightfielder Sven van de Sanden.
In the top of the second inning, DSS appeared to open the score.
Tino van Erk led off with a walk and Levine Gabriëls singled with one out.
With runners on first and second base and two outs, Mitchel Dautzenberg singled into leftfield.
Van Erk rounded third base and ran towards the plate, while Gabriëls was en route to third base.
Leftfielder Onno Rip got the ball in time to third baseman Mike Bazuin, who needed a double tag, but eliminated Gabriëls.
He first was tagged (but safe) before the base, then slid over the base and was tagged again and this time he was out.
While it appeared that Van Erk had touched the plate just in time before the third out was made, Home Plate Umpire Roy van de Wateringen made a clear call that the run was not scored and so, the inning ended and the game remained scoreless.
In the bottom of the third, it was UVV that got close to a run.
Berend Ruben led off with a double and advanced on a wild pitch with one out.
Hereafter, Bryce Cherry grounded the ball towards second baseman Kevin Nieveld.
Instead if throwing the ball to first base, Nieveld ran towards the plate, as Ruben had left third base.
Ruben was then eliminated in a rundown, while Cherry later was left behind on second base.
In the top of the fourth inning, DSS opened the score.
With one out, Tino van Erk walked again and Koen Halderman followed with a single.
With two outs, Van Erk scored on a single by Sven van de Sanden.
Moments later, DSS appeared to add two more runs on a double down the leftfield-line by Mitchel Dautzenberg.
However, the ball just turned foul before the base and so, it was a foul ball, the runners returned to their bases and Dautzenberg had to continue his at bat.
He then grounded out to end the inning.
In the bottom of the fourth, UVV also scored and took a 3-1 lead.
With two outs, Mike Bazuin homered to make it an 1-1 score.
UVV then got the bases loaded when Tijmen Takke singled, Julian Goins walked and Berend Ruben was hit by a pitch.
A similar play as in the top of the second inning then followed.
Rick Kuipers singled into leftfield and Takke and Goins went on to score.
Ruben continuted towards third base, but was eliminated there.
This time, Goins had just scored before the third out was made and so, UVV led 3-1.
In the top of the fifth, DSS got one run back.
Kevin Nieveld led off with a walk, stole second base and was awarded third base on a balk.
With one out and after a walk for Koen Halderman Nieveld scored on a sacrifice fly by Omar Williams.

Another out on third base followed in the bottom of the fifth.
With two outs, Sergino Martis reached on an error and Julian Rip walked.
A double-steal attempt followed, but Martis was caught stealing at third base.
After DSS was retired in order in the top of the sixth, UVV added two runs in the home half of the inning off of new pitcher Reggie Bomberg.
With two outs, Julian Goins singled and Berend Ruben followed with a homerun that made it a 5-2 score.
In the seventh, José Moreno took over the pitching for UVV, but gave up two unearned runs to DSS, which narrowed the deficit to 5-4.
Lead-off hitter Mitchel Dautzenberg reached on an error and Devano Pieter walked with one out.
The two runners moved on a wild pitch, then respectively scored on a sacrifice fly by Koen Halderman and a single by Omar Williams.
With the score at 5-4, the suspension was building, as there were still two innings to play and there even was time enough (before reaching the curfew-rule time of 10:30 PM) to eventually play an extra inning.
However, an extra inning was not needed, as a long ninth inning not only decided the game, it also went 21 minutes beyond the curfew-time.
In the eighth, DSS was retired in order by José Moreno, while UVV left a runner behind off of Reggie Bomberg.
And so, UVV was three outs away from the victory when the ninth inning began, but then DSS rallied for five runs on only three hits.
With a 5-4 lead, American/Dutch sidearmer Jonah Van Bemmelen took over the pitching for UVV, but ran into problems quickly.
First, he walked lead-off hitter Mitchel Dautzenberg.
Hereafter, Kevin Nieveld flied out, but in an attempt to double up Dautzenberg at first base, a throwing error followed, enabling the runner to move to second base.
Van Bemmelen then walked pinch-hitter Odion Gouverneur and gave up a runscoring single to Koen Halderman, which tied the score.
After Gouverneur and Halderman had moved on a wild pitch, Omar Williams hit a short grounder towards first baseman Berend Ruben.
Gouverneur had left his base and so, Ruben got him into a rundown.
Catcher Julian Goins ran Gouverneur back to third base, but in the meantime, Halderman also arrived there, meaning there now were two runners on third base.
Goins did the only possible thing in this situation and tagged both runners, resulting in the elimination of Gouverneur.
This unnecessary (second) out could have been costly.
Williams had moved to second base in this situation and with first base open (but with two outs), it was decided to walk Tino van Erk intentionally to set up a force play.
The force play never came.
Van Bemmelen walked next batter Djewi Appelman, which brought in Halderman and gave DSS a 6-5 lead.
Levine Gabriëls followed with a 2-run single and Sven van de Sanden added another runscoring single.
That increased the lead to 9-5 and it was then that another pitching change followed, as Roland Laurens took over from Van Bemmelen.
He gave up a line drive to Mitchel Dautzenberg, but that was caught by leftfielder Jullian Rip that ended the long and decisive at bat.
In the bottom of the ninth, Bayron Cornelisse took the mound for DSS.
He gave up a lead-off single to Berend Ruben, who was 3-for-3 and only missed the triple to hit for-the-cycle.
The DSS-defense led Ruben move to third base on two following grounders.
The game then appeared to end with a strikeout for Randy Daal, but he reached first base on a passed ball, which kept Ruben at third base.
Cornelisse then struckout the next batter to end the game.
