Third game of Neptunus against UVV cancelled
Nederlands
ROTTERDAM (Neth.) -
The third game of the 3-game series between Curaçao Neptunus and Pickles UVV, which was scheduled for Sunday (July 30), was cancelled around 11 AM, as the field was unplayable.
On Saturday-evening, it already became clear that the game possibly could not be played, as heavy rain-showers hit Rotterdam.
It then also resulted in the cancellation of the quarter final game of the Women's Soccer European Championship between Germany and Denmark.
That game was to be played at the site of Sparta, which is located nearby the Neptunus-site.
It was simply impossible to start that game, which was then postponed to Sunday-afternoon.
On Sunday-morning, attempts were made to clean up the Neptunus-field, but a lot of water remained on the leftside of the infield, as well as in the outfield.
The field was unplayable and more rain fell, resulting the cancellation of the game.
It has been re-scheduled for coming Tuesday-evening, starting at 7:30 PM.
Without playing today, Neptunus will end the regular season in second place, as league-leader L&D Amsterdam Pirates today won 7-5 against Hoofddorp Pioniers.
With that victory, Amsterdam became the winner of the regular season.
Neptunus still can end up in a tie with Amsterdam.
In order to do so, Neptunus has to win its remaining four games, while Amsterdam has to lose its remaining three games.
However, the head-to-head results of the six games played between the two teams is in favor of Amsterdam, which has won four.
