DSS opened the score quickly in the top of the first inning off of starter Colin van Laar.
The lefthander gave up a lead-off single to Junior Martina, then an error was made on a force play-grounder by Tommy van der Sanden.
Hereafter, a sacrifice bunt-attempt by Tino van Erk was caught by Van Laar.
He then threw the ball to second base trying to double up Martina, but that resulted in a throwing error and runners on second and third base.
A wild pitch followed and that enable Martina to score the first run.
With one out in the top of the second inning, DSS again got two runners on base when Koen Halderman walked and Koen Werkman singled.
But hereafter, a double play ended the at bat.
After being retired in order in the third, DSS got another scoring opportunity in the fourth.
With two outs, Sander Paap walked and Koen Halderman singled, but the first was then forced on third base.
DSS was retired in order again in the fifth and sixth inning.
DSS-starter Tim Halderman also did fine and got the necessary defensive support.
In the first inning, the righthander gave up a lead-off single to Jordy Burger, but then also was supported with a double play.
After having retired ten batters in a row, Halderman walked Joran Berkhout with two outs in the fourth, but he stranded.
Quick Amersfoort got its first runner in scoring position in the fifth.
Rachid Engelhardt led off with an infield-hit and moved on a sacrifice bunt by Jules Cremer, but was left behind on second base.
In the sixth inning, Quick came alongside.
With two outs, Jelle Blaauw doubled and scored when Joran Berkhout delivered a single in his first game playing for Quick.
Berkhout officially joined the team earlier in the week after having started the season with Silicon Storks.
He played in seven games for Storks, hitting .217 (5-for-23) with three runs scored and no RBI's.
Storks and Berkhout parted ways recently and today was the first day of his eligibility to play for his new team Quick Amersfoort.
After having batted in the tying run, Berkhout stole second base.
Bryan Engelhardt followed with an infield-hit.
Berkhout advanced to third base, but then was eliminated at the plate while trying to score on the throw to first base, which ended the inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, DSS struck with four runs with two outs to break the 1-1 tie and turn the game its way off of new pitcher Jurjen van Zijl.
Sander Paap and Koen Halderman started the inning with singles, then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Koen Werkman.
The two were unable to advance on a grounder by Mitchel Dautzenberg.
With first base open, it was decided to walk Junior Martina intentionally.
However, Tommy van de Sanden followed with a 2-run single to put DSS ahead, 3-1.
The next run was added on an infield-hit by Tino van Erk and when that was followed by a throwing error, the fourth run in the inning could be recorded on the scorecards.
In the final two innings, DSS didn't get into scoring position again and four batters struckout, but the 5-1 lead was enough.
Quick Amersfoort got an opportunity to do some scoring in the seventh and eighth inning, but failed to do so.
In the seventh, Jules Cremer singled with one out and Remian Denis walked, but a double play ended the inning.
In the eighth, off of new pitcher Greg Mosel, Quick got the bases loaded with two outs.
Lead-off hitter Wesley Bernardus reached on an error and Jordy Burger walked.
The Australian pitcher then struckout the next two hitters, but got the bases loaded when he walked Bryan Engelhardt.
However, three runners were left behind when a flyout closed the at bat.
Mosel retired the side in the bottom of the ninth to seal the victory.
