BUDAPEST (Hungary) -
The Netherlands Juveniles Team recorded another big victory in its third game of the 13th European Championship Juveniles in Hungarian capital Budapest.
On Tuesday (July 3), the Orange-squad won 26-2 against Slovakia.
So far, there have been many very lopsided games in this event with teams scoring 20 or more runs frequently.
These games are only fun for the winning teams, as the losing teams get only a few at bats.
Only three games were interesting with attractive scores.
These games were all played on Monday.
That day began with an 8-6 win for Slovakia against Austria.
Later in the day, Great Britain nipped Poland 5-4 and in the evening, host Hungary won 3-2 against Ukraine.
Today, Germany scored 40 (!) runs against Croatia, which scored only twice.
With a 16-2 lead, the Germans scored 24 runs in a very, very long fourth inning.
The team collected 27 basehits, while Croatia hit five.
Germany got 55 plate appearances, Croatia only 17.
In this 'game', Dutch umpire Antoine Loock had a busy afternoon, as he was the Field Umpire.
Ukrainian umpire Vasil Nedomirko was behind the plate.
It took almost two hours to complete the four innings.
The fourth day of the event ended with a 32-0 win of Italy and Belgium.
The Netherlands collected 27 basehits in its 26-2 win against Slovakia.
Leading 6-1, the Orange-squad rallied for 13 runs in the top of the third inning, then added seven more in the fouth at bat.
Dutch pitchers Tijn Fredrikze and Jayden van Atten gave up only three basehits.
Jamie Beerman was 5-for-5, including three triples and one double, for the Netherlands, scored five runs and batted in eight.
Amarensio Franka and Jayden Fraay were 4-for-5.
Franka had one double and scored five runs, Fraay had two triples, scored four runs and also batted in four.
