HCAW Head Coach Roeland Henrique steps down after season
Nederlands
BUSSUM (Neth.) -
Roeland Henrique will step down as Head Coach of HCAW after conclusion of the season, the club announced on Friday (September 7).
The 60-year old Henrique informed the club and the players of his decision before the start of last week's series against Curaçao Neptunus.
But the news was officially announced today.
Henrique, who led HCAW for two seasons, wants to spent more time to his private life.
HCAW announced it will start a search for a successor in the upcoming weeks.
HCAW's season will end coming Sunday.

Roeland Henrique, whose son Roelie Henrique was one of his players, joined HCAW before the start of the 2016 season.
He was then named Assistant Coach of Roy Berrevoets, who had announced in advance that he would be the team's Head Coach for only one season.
Henrique Jr. had transfered to HCAW from L&D Amsterdam Pirates after the 2015 season.
In 2016, HCAW finished in fifth place and when Berrevoets retired after the season in September, Henrique was named as his successor as the new Head Coach.
Last season, Henrique led HCAW to third place with a 20-14-2 record.
With that, HCAW reached to the top-four of the highest division for the first time since 2005.
This season, HCAW again closed the regular season in third place, winning 21 of its 42 games.
The team lost 18 games, while three ended up in a tie.
The 21 wins are the most for the Bussum-squad since 2005.
In that season, HCAW recorded 26 victories and the team then also played in the Holland Series for the last time.
While the team was unable to advance to the Championship Final since then, it came closer to the top-two in the past two seasons.
Before coming to HCAW, Henrique had been the 1B Coach of Amsterdam Pirates in the 2013 season when that team was led by Head Coach Sidney de Jong.
In the past, Henrique had coached several youth-teams of Amsterdam Pirates.
Hereafter, in 2008-2011, he was a member of the coaching-staff of the Rookie League-team of Amsterdam, whom he also led as Head Coach.
After his lone year with the main squad, Henrique returned to youth-coaching with Amsterdam Marshals.
In 2015 and 2016, Henrique was one of the coaches of the Netherlands Big League Team (Little League) which won the European title both times.
