Neptunus takes lead in exhibition season

ROTTERDAM (Neth.) - On Sunday (April 8), Curaçao Neptunus played its second game in two days against Brasschaat Braves. After having won only 4-3 on Saturday in Belgium, Neptunus won comfortably with a 9-2 score at home on Sunday.

With the win, Neptunus moved into first first of the exhibition season, which has still two weeks to go. The regular season opens on Thursday, April 26.

Neptunus announced that it has added an additional exhibition game to its schedule. On Thursday-evening (April 12), the team will play at home against Silicon Storks.

In Sunday's game, Neptunus initially faced a brief 1-0 deficit, as Brasschaat scored a run in the first inning off of starter Orlando Yntema. Shortly thereafter, Neptunus turned the game around. Several walks in combination with basehits made it a 5-1 score for the home team in the following innings.

Loek van Mil took over from Yntema in the fifth inning and pitched two innings. Elton Koeiman then threw the final three innings of the game to earn a save.
