NEW YORK, New York (USA) -
Curaçao-born Ozzie Albies (Atlanta Braves) and Kenley Jansen (Los Angeles Dodgers) have been chosen to the roster of the National League for upcoming Major League All Star Game.
The rosters were announced on Sunday (July 8).
Didi Gregorius (New York Yankees), Xander Bogaerts (Boston Red Sox) and Jonathan Schoop (Baltimore Orioles) didn't get enough votes to be elected to the American League-roster.
There is one possibility that another Dutch player will play in the All Star Game, as Andrelton Simmons (Los Angeles Angels) is one of the candidates for the Final Vote, which will be announced on July 11.
The 89th All Star Game will be played on Tuesday, July 17 at Nationals Park, the home of the Washington Nationals in Washington, DC.
Ozzie Albies led the voting for starting second baseman in the National League for a long time, but in the end, Javier Báez (Chicago Cubs) finished in first place.
Báez got 132,000 votes more than Albies, who is playing in his first full Major League-season.
He made his Major League-debut in August last year.
The 21-year old Albies leads the National League with 69 runs scored, 29 doubles and 197 total bases.
After 88 games, he currently hits .281 (108-for-385), which includes 18 homeruns.
So far, Albies batted in 50 runs.
30-year old Kenley Jansen played in two earlier All Star Games.
He currently has a 2.34 ERA with 24 saves.
Jansen pitched in 40 games and struckout 45 hitters in 42 1/3 inning.
