Nederlands

QUÉBEC CITY (Ville de Québec), Québec (Canada) - Kalian Sams will play in the Championship Series of the CanAmLeague with Les Capitales de Québec. Sams contributed with homeruns in the third and fourth game of the best-of-five Play-Off against Rockland Boulders to win the series 3-1.

The Canadian squad opened the series on Wednesday with a 9-6 victory. In that game, Sams hit a 2-run homerun, which erased a 2-0 deficit.

On Thursday, Québec suffered a huge 21-1 loss in the second game.

Hereafter, the series went to Québec City. Playing at home in Stade Canac, Les Capitales recovered from the huge loss and won the next two games, which were played on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday (September 7), Québec won 6-2 to re-take the lead in the best-of-five. On Saturday, Québec won 7-3 to win the series and advance to the Final.

In the Championship Series, Québec will face Sussex County Miners, which won its best-of-five Play-Off against Les Aigles de Trois-Rivières, 3-2. The best-of-five Final begins on Tuesday in Québec City.

In Game 3 on Friday, Québec opened the score in the first inning, but led only 3-2 after five innings. The Canadian squad then decided the game by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

After opponent Rockland Boulders had tied the score in the top of the fourth (1-1), Kalian Sams homered in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 2-1 score in favor of Québec. Rockland again came alongside in the fifth, but Québec answered with another run. In its fifth, with one out, a run was scored on a basesloaded single by Zach Wilson. The inning ended when a flyout by Sams ended in a double play.

In the sixth, Québec took more distance by scoring three runs, thanks to basesloaded walks for David Salgueiro and (after a pitching change) Yordan Manduley and a wild pitch.

On Saturday, Québec had another productive sixth inning, this time scoring four runs. At that time, the team trailed 3-2.

Québec scored its first run in the first inning when Zach Wilson homered with two outs. Rockland reacted with two runs in the second inning thanks to a 2-out, 2-run homerun by Mike Montville. Québec came alongside in the fourth when Kalian Sams homered with one out, which was his third homerun in this series. A homerun by Conrad Gregor gave Rockland a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning, but then Québec had another productive sixth at bat.

In the sixth, Zach Wilson led off with a double, then Kalian Sams was walked intentionally. But hereafter, the bases got loaded when James McOwen singled, resulting in a pitching change. An error at the plate on a force play-grounder by TJ White brought in the tying run. Maxx Tissenbaum followed with a 2-run single, then a double play-grounder by Brad Antchak made it a 6-3 score.

Québec added another run in the eighth on a single by Tissenbaum.
