INCHEON (South Korea) -
SK Wyverns won 4-1 against Doosan Bears on Saturday-afternoon (November 10) to take the lead in the best-of-seven Korean Series for the third time.
With the win, Wyverns now leads 3-2 and is one victory away from winning the Championship-title in the Korean Baseball Organization.
The last time that the team won the titel was in 2010.
Wyverns opened the Series on Sunday in Seoul with a 7-3 victory.
Bears then also won with a 7-3 score on Monday to even the Championship Final for the first time.
The Series then moved to Incheon, where Wyverns won at home on Wednesday with a 7-2 score to re-take the lead.
After Game 4 rained out on Thursday, Bears won 2-1 on Friday-evening even the Final again at 2-2.
The Series now returns to capital Seoul, where Game 6 will be played on Monday.
On Saturday, at Incheon SK Happy Dream Park, the visiting Bears opened the score in the top of the third inning when Jin-Ho Jung homered.
It was to be the lone run for the team, which got several scoring opportunities.
However, Wyverns turned four double plays to support its starting pitcher Tae-Hoon Kim.
Seth Frankoff started for the Bears.
The American had a fine outing and struckout nine batters in 6 2/3 inning, but his teammates were unable to provide him with more runs.
Only one of the four runs scored by Wyverns was earned.
Frankoff initially held Wyverns scoreless, but then gave up two runs in the seventh inning.
A double by Sung-Hyun Kim tied the score, then a sacrfice fly by Kang-Min Kim put the home-team ahead.
Wyverns took some more distance in the eighth at bat, thanks to a runscoring single by Jung-Kwon Park and a walk for Sung-Hyun Kim with the bases loaded.
