HCAW took an early lead, scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning.
The team added only one more run in the remainder of the game, but it was enough, as opponent DSS was held scoreless.
DSS got into scoring position only once.
HCAW scored all three runs off off starter Sander Helmendach, who pitched for the Bussum-squad two years ago.
Both runs in the first inning were unearned.
Lead-off hitter Jeandro Tromp reached on a throwing error, then Delano Selassa singled.
The two moved on a sacrifice bunt by Roelie Henrique.
Vince Rooi followed with a runscoring single, then the next run was added on a sacrifice fly by Bryce Cherry.
In the next two innings, Helmendach allowed only one hitter to reach base.
That was when Roland Laurens walked with two outs in the second inning.
HCAW scored its final run in the fourth at bat.
Lead-off hitter Bryce Cherry was hit by a pitch and moved on a grounder.
Kevin Weijgertse followed with a walk, then Julian Goins delivered a runscoring single to make it a 3-0 score.
With two outs, Goins stole second base, but Helmendach closed with a strikeout.
HCAW came close to another run in the seventh inning off of new pitcher Robyn Clara.
With one out, Jeandro Tromp tripled, but the next two hitters were retired.
Dennis Burgersdijk didn't encounter any problem in his eight innings on the mound for HCAW.
The righthander gave up only three basehits and got only one runner in scoring position.
Burgersdijk gave up a 2-out single to Tommy van de Sanden in the first inning.
He then retired the next nine batters in a row (five strikeouts).
With two outs in the fourth, Denzel Richardson reached on an infield-hit, but stranded on first base.
After having retired the side in the fifth, Burgersdijk got his lone runner in scoring position in the sixth.
Trailing 3-0, Mitchel Dautzenberg led off for DSS with a single and moved on a wild pitch.
With one out, he advanced to third base on a grounder by Odion Gouverneur, but then was left behind.
Burgersdijk retired the side again in the next two innings.
Timo van Ancum pitched the ninth inning for HCAW.
He gave up an one-out single to Odion Gouverneur, but two flyouts ended the at bat and the game.
With that, Van Ancum earned the first save in his career.
In the previous seven seasons, he mostly had been used as staring pitcher.
Except for 2015 (when he was with UVV) when he pitched in relief in 17 games, but never earned a save.
