Twins turns deficit into win against Quick Amersfoort

ROSMALEN (Neth.) -
De Glaskoning Twins and Cityside Apartments Quick Amersfoort played an exhibition game on Thursday-evening (April 19).
The game was played at the site of Gryphons in Rosmalen.
During the regular season, Twins also will play its Thursday-evening home-games there.
Twins initially trailed, but won 8-5.
The two teams will face each other again on Saturday in Amersfoort.
With that game, the teams wil close their exhibition season.
The regular season opens on Thursday, April 26.
Quick Amersfoort took an early 3-0 lead off of Japanese righthander Shogo Nakashima, who made his pitching-debut for Twins and threw the first three innings.
Bryan Engelhardt contributed with a 2-run single.
However, relievers Jan Evertse, Jakob Syrén, Pastor Martínez Chevez and Thijs Steenwijk then allowed only two more runs in the remainder of the game, which lasted eight innings.
The four relievers gave up only one more basehit.
Evertse, who struckout three hitters in the two innings he pitched, was the winning pitcher.
The runs were given up by Martínez and Steenwijk.
Twins was initially silenced by starter Brian van Laar, who threw four innings for Quick.
But in the fifth inning, Twins rallied for six runs off of relievers T'Shawn James and Jasper Popken to turn the game its way.
James threw 2/3 inning, then Popken completed the inning.
Popken also began the sixth inning, but after 1/3 inning, he was replaced by Jos de Jong, who completed the game for Quick Amersfoort.
Twins Head Coach Kevin Knollenburg used all his players, including rookies Jerzy van Gool and Max Kops, who were added from the second team.
Besides Nakashima, Australian newcomer Sam Kennelly also played in his first game for Twins.
He will be an utility player in the infield.
