HCAW opened the score in the top off the first inning off of starter Luuk ter Beek.
Jeandro Tromp led off with a single, then next batter Bob van der Meer walked.
With one out, both runners advanced on a wild pitch, then Tromp scored on a sacrifice fly by Rodney Daal.
After being retired in order in the second inning, HCAW doubled its lead in the third.
This time, Norbert Jongerius led off with a single and stole second base.
After having advanced to third base on a wild pitch, Jongerius scored on a grounder by Jeandro Tromp.
Pioniers got one run back in the bottom of the third inning off of starter Chris Pfau, who pitched for the Hoofddorp-team in 2016 and 2017.
The lefthander hit lead-off hitter Duco Nuijten with a pitch, then gave up an one-out single to Joey de Koning.
With two outs, the two runners executed a double-steal, which was followed by a throwing error from the catcher to third base, enabling Nuijten to score.
HCAW added three runs in the top of the fourth to increase its lead to 5-1.
Lead-off hitter Rodney Daal reached on an error, but was forced out on a following grounder by Ruendrick Piternella.
After the latter had stolen second base, Seb Visser walked and then Patrick Bok homered.
For Bok, this was only his second homerun in his big league-career.
Bok made his debut during the 2013 season playing for Amsterdam Pirates.
He hit his lone homerun before today on May 28, 2017 against UVV.
Since last season, Bok plays for HCAW.
The 5-1 lead was not enough for the Bussum-team.
Pioniers narrowed the deficit to 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning.
With one out, the bases got loaded when Damian Melis singled, Joey de Koning walked and Mark Smit also singled.
A run was then scored when Chris Pfau also walked Raul Jacobs.
The second run in the inning was scored on a grounder by Nolan Beugeling.
After HCAW left a runner on second base in the top of the sixth, Pioniers got a chance to do some more scoring in its sixth when it got the bases loaded without hitting a basehit.
With one out, pinch-hitter Tyler Boersma walked and Duco Nuijten was hit by a pitch.
With two outs, Joey de Koning also walked.
But the three runners were left behind when a flyout ended the inning.

In the seventh, it was HCAW again that got into scoring position off of new pitcher Daniel Vos, but left runners behind on first and second base.
In the top of the ninth, HCAW appeared to add an insurance run off of new pitcher Nathan Diaby.
He walked lead-off hitter Patrick Bok, who then advanced to third base when a throwing error followed on an infield-hit by Renaigel Martis.
Hereafter, Martis was forced out on a grounder by Norbert Jongerius, but that enabled Bok to score.
Jongerius was caught stealing moments later.
With two outs, Jeandro Tromp singled and advanced on a wild pitch, but Diaby then closed with a strikeout.
With HCAW leading 6-3, the game was far from over, as Pioniers came alongside in the bottom of the ninth on only one basehit.
Rookie Arij Fransen became the new pitcher for HCAW, but he got the bases loaded quickly.
He first walked Joey de Koning and Mark Smit, then also walked Nolan Beugeling with one out.
With the bases loaded, Head Coach Mervin Gario inserted himself as pinch-hitter for Jelle Kroft.
He also walked to bring in a run.
Fransen followed with his second strikeout in the inning, but then gave up a 2-run single to Tyler Boersma that tied the score at 6-6.
A grounder ended the at bat, but Pioniers had forced the game into extra innings.
Both teams got a chance to decide the game in the tenth inning, but failed to do so.
In the top of the tenth, HCAW got the bases loaded with two outs.
Ruendrick Piternella and Seb Visser then walked and advanced on a wild pitch.
With first base open, Patrick Bok was walked intentionally to set up a force play.
That indeed came on a grounder by Renaigel Martis, meaning three runners were left behind.
In the bottom of the tenth, off of new pitcher Oscar Meuris, Pioniers also got baserunners with two outs.
Mark Smit then walked and Raul Jacobs was hit by a pitch, but the inning ended with a grounder.
That also ended the game, as the 10:30 PM curfew-time had been reached.
It is not allowed to begin a new inning when this time has been reached.
