American actor Luke Perry ('The Sandlot 3') passed away

Wellknown American actor Luke Perry passed away on Monday (March 4) at age 52 after complications from a stroke he suffered last Wednesday.
For the general public, Perry is best known for his roles in successful series as 'Beverly Hills, 90210' and 'Riverdale'.
For those of us interested in baseball-movies, he played a leading role in The Sandlot 3 - Heading Home' in 2007.
Coy Luther (Luke) Perry III was born on October 11, 1966 in Mansfield, Ohio.
To pursue an acting career, he moved to Los Angeles after having finished high school.
Perry made his acting debut at age 16 and went on to play in soap-serie 'Another World' in 1989.
In 1990, he became a wellknown personality worldwide thanks to his role of Dylan McKay in the teen-drama hit-series 'Beverly Hills, 90210'.
The series ran for ten seasons (1990-2000) with 292 episodes.
Luke Perry appeared in 199 of these episodes and belonged to the main-cast of the series in the first six seasons, then was a guest-star in seasons nine and ten.
Brian Austin Green, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering appeared in all episodes.
Jason Priestley (245 episodes), Joe E. Tata (238), Gabrielle Carteris (147), Carol Potter (147), James Eckhouse (146), Tiffani Thiessen (136) and Shannen Doherty (111) all also belonged to the main-cast of several searons.
Through the years, Luke Perry played guest roles in several series, including 'Will & Grace' (2005) and 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' (2008).
He also was a voice-actor for some animated series, including an episode of 'The Simpsons' (1993) and ten episodes of 'The Incredible Hulk' (1996-1997).
In 2002-2002, he had a recurring role in the crime series 'Oz', playing Reverend Jeremiah Cloutier in ten episodes.
Perry then was the executive producer of and played the title-role in the science fiction/drama-series 'Jeremiah' in 2002-2004.
This series was based on the comics made by Belgian comic book artist Hermann Huppen, who is known by comic-fans under his pen-name Hermann.
He started writing and making the illustrations (which are painted in a very recognized style) in 1979 for the comics series, which still is in production and now has 33 volumes.
Since 2016, Luke Perry played the role of Fred Andrews in 52 episodes of the crime/mystery Netflix-series Riverdale, which is currently in its fourth season.
Perry also played in several movies, including the original 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' (1992) with Donald Sutherland, Hilary Swank and wellknown Dutch actor Rutger Hauer.
In 1996, the film became a TV-series.
In 1994, in the biographical sports movie '8 Seconds', Perry plays the role of Bull Riding World Champion Lane Frost.
Later, he plays the role of Billy in science fiction-adventure-movie 'The Fifth Element' (1997), which starred Bruce Willis, Milla Jovovich and Gary Oldman.
In 2002, he is one of the stars in the drama/thriller-movie 'Fogbound', which is directed by Dutchman Ate de Jong, which also stars wellknown Dutch actor Jeroen Krabbé.
Luke Perry just finished working on the comedy/drama 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood', which plays in Hollywood's Golden Age in 1969 in Los Angeles and is written and directed by Oscar-winner Quentin Tarantino.
Also starring in this film are Leonardo DiCaprio, Bruce Dern, Dakota Fanning, Al Pacino, Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Kurt Russell.
The film is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release in the USA in July of this year.
The film can be seen in Dutch cinemas in August.

In 2007, Luke Perry plays Tommy 'Santa' Santorelli, a successful, but arrogant baseball superstar in the family-movie The Sandlot 3 - Heading Home'.
After being hit by a ball, Santorelli travels back in time to 1976 and relives his boyhood days playing for a sandlot baseball team.
Former Major Leaguer John Kruk plays a baseball-coach.
The film was directed by William Dear and also stars Danny Nucci and Sarah Deakins.
The film is the third installment of the series of a comedy/family-movies that follows the adventures of a youth baseball-team.
The first one, 'The Sandlot' was made in 1993, the sequel, 'The Sandlot 2' in 2005.
The third movie was not shown in the cinema, but was made directly for video.
Last month, on February 3, American actor Kristoff St. John passed away at age 52.
He also had a link with baseball, as he played the role of Ahmad in the 26 episode TV-series 'The Bad News Bears' (1979-1980) about a youth baseball-team.
The series was based on the successful movie with the same name in 1976, starring Walter Matthau and Tatum O'Neal.
Kristoff St. John played a guest role in several TV-series, including 'Happy Days' (1976), 'Roots: The Next Generations' (1979) and 'The Cosby Show' (1984).
Since 1991, St. John belonged to the cast of popular soap 'The Young and the Restless'.
Through early this year, he appeared in 1.683 episodes as Neil Winters.
