FORT MYERS / WEST PALM BEACH, Florida / SCOTTSDALE / TEMPE, Arizona (USA) -
On Thursday (March 7), five Dutch players played in a Major League Spring Training-game and three of them hit a basehit.
Jonathan Schoop (Minnesota Twins) and Xander Bogaerts (Boston Red Sox) faced each other and both hit a basehit.
Schoop also scored.
Jurickson Profar (Oakland Athletics) singled, scored a run and batted in a run.
Spencer Kieboom (Washington Nationals) and Andrelton Simmon (Los Angeles Angels) also played on Thurday.
At jetBlue Park at Fenway South in Fort Myers (Florida), Boston Red Sox played at home against Minnesota Twins and suffered a big 12-1 loss.
Minnesota outhit Boston 18-5.
Jonathan Schoop started at second base for the visiting Twins and was 1-for-3, with a walk and scored a run.
Schoop recorded his basehit with one out in the top of the first inning, but then stranded on first base.
In the third inning, Schoop led off with a walk and went on to score on a single by Ronald Torreyes.
He grounded out in the fourth and sixth inning.
Schoop was replaced in the bottom of the sixth.
Xander Bogaerts started at short stop for Boston and was 1-for-2.
He popped out in the first inning and then hit a double in the fourth inning with two outs, but was left behind.
Bogaerts left the game in the top of the sixth.
In this game, Dustin Pedroia played in his first game for Boston.
He started at second base and was the lead-off hitter.
He led off for Boston in the bottom of the first inning with a single and later scored the lone run for his team.
Pedroia was then replaced in the top of the third inning.
Last year, the veteran second baseman missed almost the entire season due to a knee-injury.
The 35-year old Pedroia played in only three games for Boston for whom he plays in the Major League since 2006.
In 2002, Pedroia participated with Team USA in the Haarlem Baseball Week.

Pedroia sustained six fractures underneath his eye.

It was his lone at bat in this game.
