  HCAW outscored by Solingen Alligators

HCAW played its second exhibition game of the year on Saturday (March 9).
At home, the Bussum-squad hosted Solingen Alligators from Germany and lost 4-1 in a 7-inning game.
It was a cloudy day today with a strong wind coming from the west, resulting in wind gusts varying from 74 to more than 100 kilometers per hour (46-62 mph).
More strong winds and rain are expected on Sunday.
The teams are scheduled to play another game in Bussum on Sunday.
The decision whether or not to play will be made in the morning.
Also today, Twins Oosterhout played its first exhibition game of the season and recorded a 12-0 shutout-win against Hoboken Pioneers in Belgium.

The weather conditions led to two cancellations of games involving big league-teams.
At Amersfoort, the game between Quick Amersfoort and RCH-Pinguïns went underway, but was halted due to inclement weather conditions after three innings.
At that moment, Quick led 3-1.
At Hoofddorp, Meerlease Pioniers was scheduled to play against its second team, Omron Pioniers, but that game was scheduled due to the unfavorable weather conditions making the field not available to play on.
Last week, today's scheduled game in Amsterdam between L&D Amsterdam Pirates and Curaçao Neptunus already was dropped from the schedule.
These two teams were scheduled to play tomorrow in Rotterdam, but today, it was decided to also cancel that game.

HCAW faced an early deficit against Solingen Alligators, which led 3-0 after three innings.
The German team added a run in the top of the fifth inning and moments later, HCAW scored its lone run in the game.
While it was cloudy, very windy and sometimes rainy, it was decided to play seven innings.
When the seventh inning ended, it started to rain heavily, meaning the game was finished just in time.
Solingen recorded eight basehits off of four of the five pitchers HCAW used in today's game.
The lone pitcher who didn't gave up a basehit was righthanded rookie Arij Fransen, who made his debut, threw the sixth inning and struckout three batters.
HCAW produced five basehits off of three pitchers.
In the first three innings, HCAW faced former teammate Giovanni Tensen, gave up only one basehit.
The righthander pitched for HCAW in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
In the last two seasons, he was only used as a reliever, appearing in 28 games in that role.
Solingen scored its first run in the top of the first inning off of starter Dennis Burgersdijk, who struckout five batters in the two innings he threw.
The Germans added two runs in the third inning off his successor Ian Delemarre.
Last week, HCAW opened the exhibition season with a win against its second team.
HCAW was then led by 3B Coach Rudy Dirksen, as new Head Coach Dè Flanegin was on Aruba.
Today, Flanegin was with the team and made his debut as its Head Coach.
