In a press release, Neptunus states that Geoffry Kohl has decided to step down due to busy working commitments.
,,Unfortunately, I had to withdraw as Chairman'', Kohl is saying in the annoucement.
,,It is very regrettable, but I'm not able anymore to make time for Neptunus besides by work and a lot of travelling''.
Kohl became Chairman of the Rotterdam-based baseball- and softball-club in September 2015 and led the club until recently.
Last year, Neptunus won the Dutch Championship-title baseball for the sixth consecutive year and also won the European Champions Cup.
The softball-team promoted to the Silver League in 2016.
In the past, Kohl was a succcessful lefthanded pitcher who played in the Dutch big league for Neptunus (1988-1990; 1993-1994; 1996-1997; 1999) and Haarlem Nicols (1991-1992).
He missed the entire 1995 season due to an injury.
Except for 1995, Kohl also pitched for the Netherlands National Baseball Team in 1988-1997.
With the Orange squad, he participated in the 1996 Olympic Games (Atlanta, USA), three World Championships and four European Championships, amongst other international events.
Kohl's successor Frans van Aalen has been a longtime boardmember of Neptunus, including leading the club as its Chairman.
