DSS plays first two games in tournament
Nederlands
HAARLEM (Neth.) -
DSS played its first two games of the exhibition season on Saturday (March 23).
The team played the games on Day 1 of the Wim Oosterhof Tournament, which is organized this weekend by Kinheim.
The games are played at the historic Pim Mulier Stadium, the home-site of Kinheim, as well as the bi-annual Baseball Week Haarlem.

In the opening game, host Kinheim played an 1-1 tie against Onze Gezellen in a 7-inning game.
In the tournament, games will have a maximum of seven innings or a playing-time of two hours.
A week ago, the two teams, who both play in the second highest league, also played a game against each other.
Kinheim then won with a 9-5 score.
Later today, DSS shutout Onze Gezellen 2-0.
In the third and final game today, DSS failed to hold onto a 5-1 lead against Kinheim, as the game ended with a 5-5 tie.
A year ago, Kinheim hosted the first edition of its tournament.
Recently, it was decided to name the tournament after its longtime club-icon Wim Oosterhof, Sr..
Last season, Kinheim finished in first place in the 'Overgangsklasse' to qualify for the Promotion/Relegation Series against Silicon Storks.
Kinheim lost the Series 3-1 and therefore will play in the second highest league again this year.

Game 1 - Kinheim vs. Onze Gezellen
Kinheim opened the score in the bottom of the first inning off of starter Kevin Geestman.
A single by newcomer Jeldwin Orman then enabled Thomas Bos to score the opening run.
Orman last year played for RCH-Pinguïns.
In the remainder of the early game (which started at 10 AM), Kinheim got several baserunners and scoring opportunities.
In one of the at bats, the Haarlem-team got the bases loaded with no outs, but the next three batters then struckout.
,,Defensively and pitching-wise, this was a good game'', Kinheim's Head Coach Michael Crouwel said at the end of the day.
Onze Gezellen came alongside in the fourth inning off of starter Martijn Schoonderwoerd on a sacrifice fly.

Game 2 - Onze Gezellen vs. DSS
Tim Halderman and rookie Ben Neijndorff accounted for some good pitching for DSS in its first exhibition game of the season.
Halderman pitched five innings, then Neijndorff threw the sixth and final innings.
DSS opened the score in the second inning.
Mitchel Dautzenberg then singled and scored the first run on a triple by newcomer Runai Coran.
Last year, Coran made his debut in the Dutch big league playing for Silicon Storks.
DSS doubled its lead in the fifth at bat.
Luigi Anasagasti then walked and later scored on a single by Diamond Silberie.
Both Anasagasti and Silberie are also newcomers in the DSS-team.
Anagasti played for Meerlease Pioniers, Silberie played for HCAW.
,,Finally, we were able to play'', DSS Head Coach Marco Wels looked back.
,,We were able to get some playing rhythm.
Our pitchers were throwing on a pitch-count and did very well today.
In this game, we got some more scoring opportunities, but we were unable to make use of it.''

Game 3 - DSS vs. Kinheim
Initially, the game appeared to go the way of DSS.
The team started well and took a lead off of Kinheim-starter Al Morales Gomes.
In the meantime, DSS-starter (and newcomer) Alexander Valdez and his successor Robyn Clara did fine.
At the end of the fifth inning, DSS led comfortably with a 5-1 score when the sixth and final inning started.
In the sixth, Ibrahin Redan took over the pitching for DSS.
Valdez and Redan both played for Meerlease Pioniers last year.
Redan then mostly was used as a designated hitter or outfielder.
In the past, he was a regular pitcher when he played for ADO.
In the sixth, Kinheim rallied for four runs off of Redan to come alongside.
Wesley van Hemert, Jeldwin Orman, Marcel Tolenaars, Chiel Berkhout, Mart Wedman, Nick Hofer and Sven Moerkerk then produced a series of basehits, which resulted in the four runs.
