ROUEN (France) -
Curaçao Neptunus also won its second game against French champion Rouen Huskies on Saturday (March 23).
The reigning Dutch champion opened the series of three games against Rouen on Friday-evening with a big 12-2 victory.
On Saturday, Neptunus won 8-4.
Earlier in the day, the players and coaches of both teams conducted a clinic for youth-players.
The 3-game series will be concluded on Sunday-morning at 11 AM.
On Saturday-afternoon, at Stade St. Exupéry at Terrain Pierre-Rolland, Neptunus initially trailed.
Rouen Huskies opened the score in the first inning of the game off of starter Diegomar Markwell.
The deficit was very brief, as Neptunus, which was the home-team, came alongside in its first at bat.
Neptunus faced 29-year old Venezuelan Yoimer Camacho, who joined Rouen earlier this month.
Since 2016, the righthander played for T&A San Marino in the Italian Baseball League.
Camacho also pitched professionally in five Minor League-seasons in the organization of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
In the second inning, a few errors in the French defense started a 5-run rally that put Neptunus ahead.
From that moment, the Rotterdam-squad turned the game its way and hold onto the lead.
Diegomar Markwell threw the first four innings for Neptunus.
In the fifth inning, he was suceeded by Orlando Yntema, who completed the 7-inning game.
,,It was a good game'', Neptunus Manager Ronald Jaarsma looked back.
,,And the game was well attended.
It was a nice day to play baseball''.
On Sunday-morning, Misja Harcksen is scheduled to start for Neptunus in the third game of the series.
