The 21-year old Kieboom was contacted around 9 AM on Thursday-morning by the club that he was promoted and had to travel to Washington for Friday's game.
At that moment, Kieboom was in Reno (Nevada) with Fresno Grizzlies, the Triple-A team of Washington.
On Wednesday, he batted 2-for-4 with a homerun and two runs batted in for Fresno against Reno Aces (Arizona Diamondbacks).
He was not in the starting line-up on Thursday-evening for Fresno, which more or less confirmed that he was on his way to Washington.
As he was officially recalled on Friday, he technically was still on the roster for Fresno during Thursday's game.
On Friday-evening, in the first game of a 3-game series against San Diego Padres, Kieboom was in the starting line-up of Washington Nationals.
Wearing uniform number 8, he was the short stop and batted ninth.
Carter Kieboom's parents were in attendance to watch his first Major League-game.
In 2016, Carter's older brother Spencer Kieboom made his Major League-debut with Washington, playing in one game.
Last year, Spencer played in 52 Major League-games for Washington.
At the moment, the 28-year old catcher is playing for Harrisburg Senators in Double-A.
The father of Carter and Spencer Kieboom is former catcher Alswinn Kieboom, who played in the Dutch big league for HCAW.
Kieboom Sr. also played in the Netherlands National Junior Team, before moving to the USA, where his sons were born.
In his first at bat of the evening, in the third inning, Kieboom was struckout by Padres-starter Matt Strahm.
In the fifth inning, Kieboom grounded out to second base.
In the meantime, Washington had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning on a homerun by Yan Gomes.
San Diego Padres cut the deficit in half in the fifth when Eric Hosmer homered.
San Diego came alongside in the top of the seventh when Wil Myers led off with a double and scored on a following single by Manny Machado.
In the top of the eight, San Diego took a 3-2 lead on a passed ball.
Facing new pitcher Craig Stammen, Kieboom was the lead-off hitter for Washington in the bottom of the eighth.
On an 1-1 count, he made good contact and hit a homerun into left-centerfield to make it a 3-3 score.
With the homerun, Kieboom hit his first basehit in the Major League!
On September 2, 2012, Dutch Curaçao-born infielder Jurickson Profar hit a homerun in his first Major League at bat for Texas Rangers against Cleveland Indians.
San Diego re-took the lead in the top of the ninth when Hunter Renfroe homered.
In the bottom of the ninth, San Diego-closer Kirby Yates struckout the first two batters, but then gave up a single and walked the next two batters to get the bases loaded.
Hereafter, Kieboom got his fourth at bat, but this time, he struckout, which ended the game.
Kieboom is the eighth Dutch player currently on a Major League-roster.
The others are Ozzie Albies (Atlanta Braves), Xander Bogaerts (Boston Red Sox), Didi Gregorius (New York Yankees), Kenley Jansen (Los Angeles Dodgers), Jurickson Profar (Oakland Athletics), Jonathan Schoop (Minnesota Twins) and Andrelton Simmons (Los Angeles Angels).
Gregorius is currently injured and is expected somewhere between June and August.
