Nederlands
HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
It was another cold evening onThursday (March 28), but Meerlease Pioniers and DSS were able to play an exhibition game.
Last Tuesday, it also was a chilly evening when Quick Amersfoort and Silicon Storks played an additional game.
DSS outscored Pioniers 10-1 in a lopsided game.
It was reported that Pioniers didn't play that well and failed to make the necessary outs.
On the other hand, DSS had a productive evening and took an early lead in the first two innings.
Leading 4-0, the Haarlem-squad took more distance in the middle innings.
Tino van Erk, Mitchel Dautzenberg and Ibrahin Redan contributed with runscoring doubles.
Pioniers scored its lone run in the eighth inning.
Joey Eeman and Jorrit Penseel then singled.
After the two had advanced on a passed ball, the bases got loaded when the next batter walked.
Eeman then scored moments later on another passed ball.
In tonight's game, Pioniers got nine at bats, while DSS batted eight times.
This had to do with the availability of the pitchers on both rosters.
DSS used seven pitchers, Pioniers five.
Coming weekend, DSS will participated in the annual J.C.J. Mastenbroek Tournament in Enschede.
Pioniers will travel to Nijmegen for a training-camp at the site of De Hazenkamp.
Pioniers also will play a game against the host-club on Saturday and Sunday.
The regular season opens on Thursday, April 4.
