Roelie Henrique led off with a single, moved to second base on a sacrifice bunt by Niels van Weert and scored on a double by Gilmer Lampe.
When a throwing error was made on a grounder by next batter Denzel Richardson, he ended up on second base, while Lampe scored.
Hereafter, Kenny Berkenbosch and Delano Selassa followed with back-to-back RBI-doubles to make it a 4-0 score.
Twins Oosterhout cut the deficit in half in its first at bat by scoring two runs off of starter Jim Ploeger.

Thomas Roijers then took over the pitching for Twins.
He saw Henrique steal second base, advance on a throwing error, then score when he gave up a single to Niels van Weert.
Twins didn't get a runner in scoring position from the fourth through eighth inning.
In these five innings, the team got only two baserunners, but both stranded on first base.
Pirates increased the lead to 8-2 in the top of the seventh inning off of Roijers.
