 HOOFDDORP (Neth.) -
On Saturday (December 12), the best players of the 2015 season in the Dutch highest league were honored.
At the Claus Party Centre in Hoofddorp, several awards were handed out during the KNBSB Baseball Softball Stars Awards.
In softball, Mariëlle Vleugels (FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem) was named Most Valuable Player of the 2015 season in the Golden League, while Ginger de Weert (Terrasvogels) won the award for Best Pitcher.
In baseball, Dashenko Ricardo (Corendon Kinheim) was the Most Valuable Player of the big league, while Rob Cordemans win his ninth trophy for being named Best Pitcher.
Also tonight, baseball-player Dirk van 't Klooster and softball-player Saskia Kosterink were honored for their impressive career and contributions to their sports.
Saskia Kosterink was not present, as she currently is active playing softball in Australia.
A photo-montage was shown of her years playing for Sparks Haarlem and the Netherlands National Team.
The outielder, who also played four years in Italy, was on the roster this season for Sparks Haarlem, but didn't play for the team.
She did participate with the Orange squad during the European Championship in Rosmalen (Netherlands) and then was honored for playing her 150th official international game.
Dirk van 't Klooster was addressed to by some speakers, while a video-montage was shown of his years playing in Netherlands National Team.
This season, Van 't Klooster played for Vaessen Pioniers and when his team was eliminated in the Play-Offs, he announced his retirement.
In his impressive career, Van 't Klooster became the all-time recordholder in Games Played and Basehits.
