Nederlands
NIEUWEGEIN (Neth.) -
The complete 7-member Board of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB), led by Chairman Ron Schel, stepped down on Saturday-afternoon (March 24), effective immediately.
Afterwards, the following statement was issued:
During the closed Council-meeting of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Association (KNBSB) on Saturday, March 24, the Council discussed with the Board regarding the situation that had developed regarding the unexpected large deficit in the year 2017.
The Board presented measures to be able to continue its innovation-proces within strict financial borders.
After a lengthy discussion, the Council, the highest body within the KNBSB, has discontinued its confidence in this.
The measures that were proposed by the Board to control the finances again were not sufficiently assessed.
With that, the Board decided to discontinue its governing responsibilities and hand it over to the Council, effective immediately, and to step down.
In the very near future, the Council will name an interim-Board led by Council-member, as well as former KNBSB-Chairman, Ruud van Zetten.
