Pioniers remains unbeaten on Super Cup; 1st wins Adegeest, Quick Amersfoort

On Day 2 of the European Super Cup Men Softball, a total of 18 games were played with all 18 participating teams playing two games.
The games were played on four different sites, located in the region Friuli-Venezia Giulia in the northeast part of Italy near Venice.
Hoofddorp Pioniers remained unbeaten.
The team opened today with a big 19-4 win in three innings against Magos de Tenerife (Spain), then added a 10-0 shutout in five innings later in the afternoon against Tempo Praha (Czech Rep.).
On the first day, Pioniers was the lone Dutch team to win its opening game.
Adegeest and Quick Amersfoort began the event on Monday with a loss.
Today, Adegeest won its first game with a 15-2 score in four innings against Cavigal Nice (France), while Quick Amersfoort suffered its second loss against Spectrum Praha, which won with an 8-1 score.
In the late afternoon, Adegeest lost 15-8 to Eagles Praha (Czech Rep.), while Quick recorded its first win, outscoring Pessac Panthères (France) with a 7-5 score.
On Wednesday, the preliminary round ends with all teams again playing two games.
Those games will decide the final rankings, as all kind of combinations are still possible.
The top-3 of each of the three pools will continue playing for the Super Cup, while the bottom-3 will play for the ESF Cup.

Hoofddorp Pioniers vs. Magos de Tenerife
At Staranzano, Hoofddorp Pioniers registered a big 19-4 victory against Magos de Tenerife, which last year won the ESF Cup by beating Pioniers 8-6 in the final.
During this tournament, Magos has only eleven players on its roster, including Dutch players Efrain Nielsen and Eumir Nielsen.
Pioniers collected 14 basehits off of two pitchers, including four by Eldrick Dijkhoff and three by Enio Kwas.
Three of Dijkhoff's hits were doubles, he also scored three runs and batted in three.
Kwas had two doubles and one homerun, scored twice and batted in six runs.
Initially, the team from Tenerife took a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning off of starting pitcher Angel Brunken.
Italian Julian Andres Stefani led off with a single, moved on a walk by Roberto Camejo Fernández, then scored on a single by Venezuelan Luiger Orlando Pinto Suarez.
Hereafter, Briton James Darby connected for a 3-run homerun.
Pioniers immediately came alongside in its first at bat.
Jeremy Delifina led off with a walk.
With one out, Eldrick Dijkhoff and Enio Kwas delivered back-to-back doubles, resulting in two runs.
Hereafter, Idelgardo Raap singled.
An error that followed a wild pitch and then a passed ball enabled Kwas and Raap to score and that made it a 4-4 tie.
After Tenerife had left three runners behind in the top of the second inning, Pioniers again scored four runs moments later.
This time, Gilward Wester led off with a walk, stole second base and advanced on an error.
With one out, he scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Glennsig Polonius.
Eldrick Dijkhoff followed with a double, then Enio Kwas homered.
Next batter Idelgardo Raap walked, stole second base, then advanced to third base and scored on two consecutive wild pitches to make it 8-4 in favor of Pioniers.
Mexican Jaudiel Olaiz, who had taken over the pitching for Brunken in the second inning, retired the side in the third.
Hereafter, Pioniers staged a huge 11-run rally on nine basehits in the bottom of the third inning to reach a 15-run difference and end the game.
Jeremy Regales led off with a walk, then Gilward Wester homered.
Later in the at bat, three errors contributed to five unearned runs.
With two outs and the bases loaded, Enio Kwas became the 15th batter in this inning and delivered a walk-off, 2-run double that ended the game.

Adegeest vs. Cavigal Nice
At Castiòns delle Mura, Adegeest won big with a 15-2 score in 3½ inning against Cavigal Nice from France.
Adegeest had opened the event on Monday with a loss.
In today's first game, Adegeest collected 14 basehits, including three by American Travis Havins (who homered) and Jurnest Virginie.
Bart Baan batted in four runs, while Sebastiaan Spierenburg batted in three and also scored three.
After Cavigal had left two runners in the top of the first inning, Adegeest opened the score moments later by scoring three runs.
Travis Havins led off with a homerun, then Sherman Laveist doubled and scored the next run on a following single by Sebastiaan Spierenburg.
With two outs, Jurnest Virginie added a runscoring single.
The French opponent got one run back in the second inning when William Berenguer homered with two outs off of Arjan Baanen, who went the distance for Adegeest and gave up only four hits.
In its second at bat, Adegeest rallied for six runs.
The first two runs were scored on a double by Sebastiaan Spierenburg, the final two on a single by Bart Baan.
In between, Jurnest Virginie and Danny Burg delivered RBI-singles.
Arjan Baanen retired the side in the top of the third inning, then Adegeest again scored six runs moments later.
In this at bat, there were four basehits, including RBI-singles by Burg and Havins, while Baan hit a 2-run single.
In the top of the fourth inning, Cavigal was able to score another run on a 2-out single by Davy Bisson, but that was to be it for the French team.

Quick Amersfoort vs. Spectrum Praha
At Azzano Decimo, Praha opened the score with two runs in the top of the first inning off of Shawn Koster, who went the distance for Quick Amersfoort.
David Mertl led off with a walk, then advanced on a bunt-single by next batter Petr Vácha, but then was eliminated after he overran second base.
With Vácha on second base and two outs, Tomáš Klein homered.
The Quick-defense turned a double play in the top of the second inning, then cut the deficit in half when Czech Ondřej Dibelka homered with one out.
However, this would be the lone run for the team from Amersfoort.
After Dibelka's homerun, Revin Brooks tripled, but hereafter, the next two batters struckout.
The Czechs added an unearned run in the fifth when lead-off hitter Ondřej Lakomý reached on an error and scored on a 2-out single by Patrik Kolkus.
The team left three runners behind, but now led 3-1.
In the top of the seventh, Spectrum rallied for five runs on only two basehits.
With one out and a runner on first base, Petr Vácha and Patrik Kolkus delivered back-to-back runscoring doubles.
An error, wild pitch and force play-grounder then accounted for the next three runs, lifting the lead to 8-1.
After the triple by Brooks in the second inning, the next 14 Quick-batters were retired in order.
Quick got its next batter to reach base again in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Lead-off hitter Karel Kadečka then reached on an error.
With one out, he was retired in a game-ending double play.

Quick Amersfoort vs. Pessac Panthères
At Azzano Decimo, Quick Amersfoort decided this game with a 5-run rally in the first inning.
However, in the following innings, the team couldn't that much distance and so, it took two hours and 30 minutes to complete this game.
Panthères opened the score in the top of the first inning.
With one out, Quick-starter Ondřej Němec hit Julien Duru with a pitch.
He then advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a 2-out single by Anthony Cros.
Quick Amersfoort answered with a 5-run rally in the bottom of the first inning.
Emeron Lourens led off with a single, stole second base and moved on a single by Manuel Bouwman.
The latter also stole second base, then the bases got loaded when Karel Kadečka walked.
Hereafter, Anthony Beaumont delivered a 2-run single and with one out, Jerome Wouters added a 3-run homerun to give Quick a 5-1 lead.
The French opponent got one run back in the second inning, but also left two runners behind, as it did in the first at bat.
Moments later, a single by Kadečka accounted for the next Quick-run in the bottom of the second.
With a 6-2 lead for Quick, Panthères scored twice in the third at bat off of reliever Niek Nieuwenhuizen, who had taken over the pitching in the previous inning.
With the bases loaded, two batters were hit by a pitch, resulting in the two runs.
With the bases still loaded, Shawn Koster became the new pitcher for Quick.
He silenced Panthères in the remainder of the game, striking out eleven batters.
However, Koster did gave up an additional run in the top of the sixth on a 2-out single by Anthony Cros.
In the bottom of the sixth, Quick added an insurance run when Kadečka homered with one out to make it a 7-5 score.
Koster then struckout the side in the top of the seventh inning to complete the game.

Tempo Praha vs. Hoofddorp Pioniers
At Staranzano, Hoofddorp Pioniers shutout Tempo Praha 10-0 in five innings to record its third victory and remain unbeaten.
Mexican Jaudiel Olaiz went the distance for Pioniers, gave up five hits and got credited with his third win.
Pioniers collected eight basehits, including two by Eldrick Dijkhoff, one of them being a homerun.
He scored three runs.
Pioniers opened the score in the first inning.
With two outs, Eldrick Dijkhoff (fielder's choice) was on first base.
He then stole second base and when a throwing error followed, he was able to score the first run.
Pioniers doubled its lead in the third inning and it again was Dijkhoff who scored.
With two outs, he singled, then the bases got loaded when Enio Kwas and Idelgardo Raap walked.
Moments later, Dijkhoff scored on a wild pitch.
In the top of the fifth inning, Pioniers rallied for eight runs to reach the 10-run mercy-rule difference.
Dijkhoff led off with a strikeout, but he would connect well in his second at bat in the inning.
Hereafter, Enio Kwas walked, which led to a pitching change.
Kwas was replaced by pinch-runner Jeremy Cardoze, who then moved on a wild pitch and scored on a following single by Idelgardo Raap.
Hereafter, Griffith Cathalina also delivered a runscoring single and Jair Thompson added an RBI-double.
When next batter Angelo Clementina walked, another pitching change followed, but that did't stop Pioniers from scoring more runs.
The new pitcher was greeted with a runscoring single by Gilward Wester, then another run was added when Jefferson Delfina followed with a double.
A throwing error led to the next run.
With the lead now at 8-0, Delfina at second base and two outs, Dijkhoff got hit second at bat in the inning and this time, he hit a 2-run homerun that lifted the score to 10-0.
In the bottom of the fifth, Tempo got two baserunners, but couldn't avoid a 10-run difference, mercy-rule loss.
After this game, Kwas was the leading hitter in the tournament with an .857 (6-for-7) batting average.

Eagles Praha vs. Adegeest
At Cervignano del Friuli, Adegeest faced a big deficit after only one inning, as Eagles Praha rallied for ten runs off of two pitchers.
In the top of the first inning, Sherman Laveist walked for Adegeest with one out, but was left behind.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Czechs had ten basehits and scored ten runs to take apparent comfortable lead.
Jan Svatoň led off with a walk, then moved to third base on a single by Tomáš Benda.
A wild pitch then led to the first run and Luboš Procházka followed with a 2-run homerun.
With two outs and a runner on second base, the next run was scored on a single by Jiri Bliek, who has played baseball in the Dutch big league some years ago for UVV.
Hereafter, Rikkert Wienia took over the pitching from starter Jaap Twisk, but he was greeted with a single by Jan Strádal.
Next batter Marek Jicha then added a runscoring single and Jan Svatoň then followed with a 3-run homerun that made it 8-0.
Singles by Bartolomej Rizek and Daniel Černý increased the lead to 10-0 moments later.
However, the game wasn't over yet.
Adegeest got two runs back, trailed 11-2 after four innings, but then rallied for six runs in the fifth to narrow the deficit to only 11-8.
In the second, Adegeest scored its first run, Jurnest Virginie led off with a walk and later scored on an error.
In the third, a grounder by Sherman Laveist enabled Travis Havins to score, who had just tripled.
Eagles made it an 11-2 score in the fourth when Daniel Černý tripled with one out and scored on a single by Ondřej Kouba.
But in the top of the sixth inning, it was Adegeest that staged a big rally, scoring six runs.
With one out, Adegeest got the bases loaded when Derny van Aanhout and Travis Havins walked and Sherman Laveist was hit by a pitch.
Hereafter, Sebastiaan Spierenburg and Giovanni Pourier produced runscoring singles and Jurnest Virginie followed with a 2-run single.
With two outs, a single by Danny Burg brought in Pourier and when that was followed by an error, it also enabled Virginie to score and make it an 11-8 score.
Eagles reacted with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to make it 14-8.
After Adegeest left two runners in the sixth, Eagles reached the 7-run difference moments later on a walk-off single by Luboš Procházka.

Pessac Panthères vs. Medvedi
Both teams scored early, Medvedi in the first, Pessac in the second inning, but then were held scoreless in a pitching-duel with Dutch umpire Gerrit-Jan van der Hoeven behind the plate.
In the top of the seventh, Medvedi broke the tie.
Danijel Antolovic then led off with a double, moved on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a 2-out single by Alen Magdelanić to give the Croatians a 2-1 victory.
A week ago, Magdelanić was an umpire at the European Premiere Cup for Women Softball, which was held in the same area.
Winning pitcher Hrvoje Jerbic struckout eleven batters and gave up three hits, while losing pitcher Tomas Orlando Diaz Barrera also struckout eleven and gave up four basehits.
Brasschaat Braves vs. Czech Under-23
Brasschaat not only shutout the Czech opponent, it held the team also hitless.
The Czechs reached base only three times, all on a walk.
Winning pitcher Roman Godoy Herbel struckout 15 batters and went the distance in this No-Hitter.
Brasschaat scored both runs in the sixth inning on a fielder's choice-grounder by Enrique Javier and a single by Pablo Skladny.
The Belgians recorded only two basehits.
Hørsholm Hurricanes vs. Tempo Praha
Hørsholm initially trailed 1-0 in the third inning, but then scored three runs and went on to win with a 7-3 score.
Starting pitcher Martin Holmberg struckout seven batters and recorded his second win.
The Danish collected 10 basehits, including homeruns by New Zealander Benjamin Enoka and Argentinian German Sacks.
The 2-run homerun by Enoka gave the team a 2-1 lead in the third inning.
The homerun by Sacks also accounted for two runs in the sixth.

Eagles trailed 2-0 after five innings, but then rallied for eight runs in the sixth inning on five basehits, including a 3-run double by Jan Kryšpin (who was 4-for-4) that put the Czechs ahead.
Both teams then scored three runs in the seventh inning.
Two of the Czech runs were then scored on a triple by Jan Svatoň, while two of the Danish runs were score on a single by Martin Schwartz Jensen.
Stanislav Havel went the distance for Eagles and struckout nine batters.
Lupi Pro Roma vs. Stenløse Bulls
Leading 1-0, Stenløse scored three runs in the sixth inning on a basesloaded walk for Mads Simonsen and a 2-run single by Dennis Nielsen, who had also homered in the third inning.
In the bottom of the sixth, Teo Skladny hit a 2-run homerun for Roma, but the Bulls then added an insurance run in the seventh on a single by Daniel Julenon.
Winning pitcher Kim Hansen struckout 14 batters and gave up only two basehits.
Chicaboo's Stabroek vs. Junior Alpina
Alpina struck early with two runs in the first inning when Stefano Ocera led off with a walk and Venezuelan Rafael Angel Flores Sanchez followed with a homerun.
The next runs were scored in the seventh when both teams scored once.
The Italians on a double by Juan Osvaldo Marcano Merentes, the Belgians on a lead-off homerun by Mexican José Luis Garza Luna.
This game also was a pitching-duel, as winning pitcher Juan Ado Potolicchio (Argentina) struckout 16 batters and losing pitcher Jorge Rendon Trejo (Mexico) struckout 15.
Cavigal Nice vs. Czech Under-23
The Czechs trailed 1-0 after three innings, but then scored twice and added three runs in the sixth.
In this last at bat, Michal Bala led off with a triple, then scored on a following double by Jakub Holobradek.
Later in the at bat, singles by Simon Urbánek and Dan Bukáček lifted the lead to 5-1.
A triple by Argentinian Frederico Eder, followed by a double by Argentian Facundo Carril gave the French two runs in its sixth, but the team ended up just short.
Winning pitcher Michal Bala dominated, struckout 16 batters and gave up six hits.
Gladsaxe vs. Brasschaat Braves
Leading 4-0, Brasschaat decided the game with a 7-run rally in the fourth inning.
The Belgians collected four hits in this at bat, highlighted by a grand slam homerun by Roman Godoy Herbel, who re-entered in this inning as pinch-hitter.
Earlier today, Godoy Herbel threw a No-Hitter as pitcher.
Gladsaxe scored its two runs in the fourth inning on a 2-run homerun by Anton Brown.
Winning pitcher Pablo Skladny gave up only three hits and earned his second win.
Medvedi vs. Stenløse Bulls
Bulls scored four runs in the first and second inning to take an early comfortable lead.
Trailing 9-0, Medvedi scored its lone runs in the third at bat, but the Danish team then rallied for six more runs in the fourth.
New Zealander Joshua Niu and Briton Kevin Stockford homered for Stenl&$248;se.
Niu hit a 2-run homerun in the first inning, while Stockford hit a grand slam homerun in the second at bat.
Magos de Tenerife vs. Chicaboo's Stabroek
Chicaboo's trailed 4-2 after two innings, then scored four runs in the third at bat, but Magos came alongside, scoring a run in its third and fourth.
The Belgians then broke the 6-6 tie by scoring three runs in the top of the seventh.
With one out, Mexican José Luis Garza Luna walked, then his pinch-runner Mathias Sprangers advanced on a single by Bjorn Van Hoye.
Moments later, Sprangers scored the go-ahead run on a single by Jasper Lanoote and Steve Selis followed with a 2-run single to make it 9-6 in favor of Chicaboo's.
In the bottom of the seventh, Magos narrowed the deficit to 9-8.
Roberto Camejo Fernández led off with a homerun.
The Belgian defense then turned a double play, but Eumir Nielsen Daniel then tripled and scored on a following single by Errnesto Gonzalez.
A grounder then ended the game, resulting in the first win for Chicaboo's.
Spectrum Praha vs. Lupi Po Roma
After two scoreless innings, Roma scored four runs in each of the next three innings to win 12-0.
The Italians collected 12 basehits, including three by Roberto Manente, who homered, scored two runs and batted in three.
Argentinian Manuel Godoy hit two homeruns and batted in seven runs for the Italian squad.
Godoy hit a 3-run homerun in the third, then added another 3-run homer in the fourth.
In the 4-run fifth inning, it was Manente who belted a 3-run homerun.
Winning pitcher Maximiliam Montero, also from Argentina, struckout nine batters and gave up only one basehit, which was registered in the fifth inning.
Junior Alpina vs. Hørsholm Hurricanes
In the final game today, Hørsholm led 2-0 in the seventh inning, but the Italian opponent then came alongside.
The Danish team then scored the winning in the top of the ninth.
A homerun by Dennis Kihlgast gave Hurricanes an 1-0 lead in the fifth, then a sacrifice fly by Argentinian German Sacks accounted for the next run in the sixth.
With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Alpina tied the score.
Marcello Malatesta led off with a walk, then the next two batters struckout, but Juan Osvaldo Marcano Merentes then followed with a triple and went on to score the tying run on a wild pitch.
With that, the game went into extra innings.
In the eighth, Hørsholm left three runners behind, then Alpina stranded two in its eighth at bat.
In the ninth, with runners on second and third base, a grounder led to an out at the plate.
This created a situation with runners on first and third base.
On a grounder by Martin Holmberg, it was only possible to force out the runner on second base and so, the runner from third base scored the go-ahead run.
In the bottom of the ninth, with two runners on base, two strikeouts and a grounder ended the game, which was a pitching-duel between two Argentinian hurlers from beginning to end.
Diego Van Opstal went the distance for the Danish squad, struckout 18 batters and gave up only three hits.
Juan Ado Potolicchio threw all nine innings for the Italian squad, struckout 19 batters and gave up six hits.
