Hoofddorp Pioniers vs. Hørsholm Hurricanes
At Staranzano, Hoofddorp Pioniers recorded its fifth victory of the tournament and did it in a spectacular way. Due to the length of previous games, the game against Hørsholm Hurricanes became an hour later than scheduled. It was an attractive game with four homeruns. Three of them were hit by German Sacks, who went 3-for-3 and batted in five runs for the Danish opponent. However, the big hit was registed by Elrick Dijkhoff, who hit a dream-homerun. With Pioniers trailing, the team got the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Moments later, Dijkhoff hit a walk-off grand slam homerun that gave Pioniers a 10-8 victory!

Initially, the game appeared to go the way of Hørsholm. The Danish team led 5-0 halfway the third inning and 8-3 halfway the sixth inning, but ended up losing its first game of the tournament.

Angel Brunken went the distance for Pioniers. He struckout only three batters and gave up eleven basehits, but got fine defensive support. On the other hand, the Danish defense committed five errors.

In the top of the first inning, with two outs, Argentinian German Sacks hit his first homerun for Hørsholm, which last year won the bronze medal in the Super Cup-tournament.

Pioniers left two runners behind in its first inning, then saw the Danish squad rally for four runs in the third at bat. Hurricanes was unable to take some more distance and left two runners behind in both the fourth and fifth inning. Pioniers then added a run in the bottom of the fith when Delfina led off with a single and later scored on a single by Eldrick Dijkhoff.

In the top of the sixth, Hurricanes increased its lead to 8-3. New Zealander Benjamin Enoka led off with a double, then Sacks hit his third homerun in the game with one out. Hereafter, Mads Gregersen was hit by a pitch and moved to third base when an error followed a single by Dutch player Rody Stam. A double play followed but during the completion of it, Gregersen scored.

With only two more at bats left and trailing 8-3, Pioniers got close to its first defeat. But then, the game started turning the way of Pioniers.

In the bottom of the sixth, Pioniers also scored three (unearned) runs off of Argentinian reliever Diego Van Opstal, who had taken over in the fourth inning. Only two hits were recorded, but the Danish defense committed three costly errors. Griffith Cathalina led off with a single and got into scoring position after an error. With one out and Cathalina on third base, an error on a grounder by Randrick Roza led to the first run. The bases then got loaded when Jefferson Delfina reached on an infield-hit and Glennsig Polonius was hit by a pitch. Next, a fly by Eldrick Dijkhoff was missed in the outfield, resulting in the next run and keeping the bases loaded. After a strikeout accounted for the second out, Idelgardo Rap walked to bring in the third run in the at bat. Pioniers left the bases loaded when a force play-grounder ended the inning.

In the top of the seventh, Pioniers turned a double play, but still trailed 8-6 when the bottom of the seventh began. Griffith Cathalina led off with a single, then advanced on a wild pitch with one out. Cathalina then tried to score on a single by Randrick Roza, but was eliminated at the plate. And so, there were two outs with a runner on first base. Jefferson Delfina followed with another single, resulting in runners on second and third base. Moments later, the bases got loaded when Glennsig Polonius walked. That brought Eldrick Dijkhoff in the batter's box and he drilled the ball over the leftfield-fence for a walk-off, grand slam homerun that gave Pioniers a 10-8 victory!
