In the fourth inning, both teams scored once, resulting in a 4-4 tie. Italy scored on a single by Mazzanti, the Dutch on a double by Coffie. Markwell, who gave up eight hits, was relieved after four innings by Tom Stuifbergen. The young righthander threw three innings and gave up three hits. In the fifth and sixth inning, he was supported with a double play. In the seventh, while leading 6-4, he gave up an Italian run. After walking the lead-off hitter in the eighth, Stuifbergen was relieved by Michiel van Kampen. He gave up a single, then struckout the next two batters, followed by a walk that loaded the bases. Closer Dave Draijer was then brought in and ended the inning with a pop-fly, leaving three Italian runners behind.

In the home of the sixth inning, the Dutch team had taken a 6-4 lead when Sharnol Adriana hit a homerun with Raily Legito on base, who had reached on an infield-hit. After Italy narrowed the deficit to 6-5 in the seventh inning, the Dutch took more distance by scoring three runs in their half of the seventh at bat to make it 9-5. Danny Rombley led off with an infield-hit and Michael Duursma was hit by a pitch for the second time. After the two advanced on a grounder by Eugene Kingsale, the bases were loaded when Raily Legito was walked intentionally. The set-up for a force play failed, as Sharnol Adriana (4-for-6) followed with a 2-run single to give him four RBI's in the game. Next batter Bryan Engelhardt, who had struckout twice before, then added another RBI-single. A tenth run was then added in the eighth inning on an error.
Italy then came back in the ninth inning by scoring three unearned runs on four hits off closer Dave Draijer to make it 10-8, but were unable to turn the score in their favor. Lead-off hitter Gino Lollio reached base when third baseman Ivanon Coffie committed an error on his grounder, then Massimiliano De Biase hit another single to give him a perfect 5-for-5. After a flyout, a run was scored on a grounder by Giuseppe Mazzanti, followed by an RBI-double by Alex Liddi. Singles by pinch-hitter Lorenzo Avagnina and Luca Bischeri then narrowed the score to 10-8, but then the game ended when Anthony Caracciolo grounded back to Dave Draijer for the final out.
