Terrasvogels vs. DSS
The Play-Off Final was a pitching-duel between Dani Bonnet (Terrasvogels) and Dagmar Bloeming (DSS).
The latter didn't pitch during last week's additional tiebreaker games needed to decide the ranking in the Play-Offs.
The righthander was saved for today's match-up against Terrasvogels.
Bonnet did pitch during the two games Terrasvogels played in the previous four days against DSS and Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem respectively.
Both Bonnet and Bloeming went the distance today.
Bonnet struckout four batters and walked none, Bloeming struckout three batters and walked two.
Terrasvogels collected eight basehits, while DSS registered five.
It was an interesting match-up, resulting in the first five innings remaining scoreless.
Terrasvogels appeared to be the better team, as it reached base several times in the first five at bats, but was unable to score.
DSS only reached base in the first two innings.
In the top of the first inning, Noa Brand led off the game for DSS with a single, but stranded on first base.
In the second inning, Denice van Dijk led off for the team with a double and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Belinda White.
She then was left behind on third base, as the next two batters were eliminated by Dani Bonnet, who from this moment on, retired 13 consecutive batters.

Britt Vonk led off the first inning for Terrasvogels with a single and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Kimberly Jones and a grounder by Lizzie Clarijs, but then stranded.
In the second inning, Fiana Finau led off with a single, then advanced when a pick-off attempt by the catcher ended in an error.
Hereafter, Dagmar Bloeming retired the next three batters, two of them with a strikeout.
Terrasvogels again got in scoring position in the third inning when Britt Vonk doubled with one out, but she again was left behind, this time on second base.
In the fourth, with two outs, Lisa Waasdorp reached on an error, but moments later, she was ruled out for leaving first base too early.
That rule also was implemented in the fifth inning.
With one out, Jessica Waasdorp walked, then her pinch-runner Dervisa Mutic was called out for leaving first base too early.
Hereafter, Jeske Meewisse singled, but she was caught stealing shortly thereafter.

And so, after five suspenseful innings, the game was still scoreless.
In the top of the sixth inning, it was DSS that opened the score.
With one out, Noa Brand singled, then scored all the way from first base when Morgan Sampson drove the ball into left-centerfield for a double.
With two outs, she moved to third base on a single by Areke Spel, but DSS left two runners behind when a comeback-grounder ended the at bat.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Terrasvogels also scored, but did it twice, both with two outs.
Britt Vonk (who was 3-for-3) led off with an infield-hit.
A sacrifice bunt-attempt by Kimberly Jones then was caught by Dagmar Bloeming, but Vonk then did come into scoring position on a following grounder by Lizzie Clarijs.
Hereafter, Jessie van Aalst hit a hard grounder through the middle, which was fielded by 2B Melissa de Greef, who attempted to eliminate the batter at first base to end the inning.
However, Van Aalst reached first base safely with an infield-hit.
In the meantime, Vonk not only had advanced to third base on the hit, but the speedster continued running while it was attempted to eliminate Van Aalst at first base and scored the tying run.
Fiana Finau followed with a single, which was followed by an error, resulting in runners on second and third base.
The bases got loaded when Lisa Waasdorp walked, but hereafter, Jessica Waasdorp singled through the middle to put Terrasvogels ahead, 2-1.
Finau also was waved home, but she was eliminated at the plate on a nice throw from centerfielder Areke Spel, which ended the inning.
In the top of the seventh inning, Dani Bonnet retired te side to end the game.
With that, Terrasvogels reached the Holland Series, which for the second year in a row is only a best-of-one.
