Foreign additions for Tex Town Tigers
Nederlands

ENSCHEDE (Neth.) - Tex Town Tigers saw its powerhitter and centerfielder Isa Los leave during the transfer-period, which ended at 5 PM on Thursday (December 1). After completion of the season, the team already said goodbye to three players, who will either play on a lower level or move because of studies.

The team added three new players, including two foreign players.

As reported earlier, Jaap Braakman succeeded Stanley Kock and will be the new Head Coach of the team in the 2017 season. Returning as Assistant Coaches are Rob Hassink and Petra van Heijst, while Lindsey Meadows returns as Pitching Coach.

This season, Tex Town Tigers finished in a tie with De Glaskoning Twins in fifth place. The Enschede-squad earned fifth place after winning an one-game tiebreaker against Twins, which therefore had to play in the Promotion/Relegation Play-Off. Tex Town Tigers closed the regular season with an 11-24 record.

Outfielder Isa Los left Tex Town Tigers during the transfer-period and will play for Roef!, which promoted. Righthanded pitchers Amber Krijgsman and Romy van der Wielen left the club due to study-reasons and therefore moved from Enschede. Krijgsman has been added to the roster of Haarlem-based FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem, while an eventual new club for Van der Wielen is not known at the moment. Veteran infielder Monique Mooi retired, but will continue playing in the second team of the club.

Powerhitter Isa Los was the second best hitter of Tex Town Tigers this season with a .406 batting average (39-for-96) with four doubles, three triples and one homerun. The outfielder scored 18 runs and batted in 16, while sharing the team-lead with ten walks. With her 39 basehits, she shared second place with Nadine Marinus, behind Laura Wissink, who had 45. Her 16 RBI's were third best.

Amber Krijgsman and Romy van der Wielen both saw limited action this season for Tex Town Tigers, for whom they played their entire big league-career. Los also never played somewhere else than for the Enschede-squad.

Krijgsman pitched in only five games for Tex Town Tigers. Krijgsman was 0-1 with a 12.12 ERA and threw 8 2/3 inning.

Van der Wielen threw in three games during the regular season and was 1-0 with a 9.69 ERA, pitching 4 1/3 inning.

Three new players were added to the roster, with two of them making their debut in the Golden League next season. They are Olivia Hornstein and Kimberley Zehnder. The third newcomer is Lizzy Uytendaal, who already played in the highest league in 2009 with Robur '58. All play in the infield.

Olivia Hornstein comes from Canada and plays at first base and in the outfield. She played for Eastern Arizona College in Junior College Division I in the USA in 2013. Back then, she played in 57 games and batted .327 with one homerun and 25 runs batted in. Hornstein also represented the Canadian Province of British Columbia during the 2013 Canada Summer Games.

Kimberley Zehnder played for Therwil Flyers in Switzerland. Zehnder, who plays at second base and short stop, participated in the Women's European Championship in 2015 in Rosmalen (Netherlands) with the Swiss National Team, which finished in 18th place. Before the start of this year's new season, she participated with Zurich Barracudas in the annual J.C.J. Mastenbroek Tournament, hosted by Tex Town Tigers. In August, she finished in fourth place with Therwil Flyers in the European Cup Winners Cup in the Czech Republic. During that event, Tex Town Tigers-players Annemiek Jansen and Myrthe Smid also played for the Swiss squad as pick-up players. That tournament was won by Dutch Golden League-club FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem.

Lizzy Uytendaal, who plays at third base and short stop, this season played for Robur '58, which played in the First Division (third highest league).

Righthanded pitcher Anna-Bè Bartels moved to Almere and initially also might have retired, but she has decided to continue playing for Tex Town Tigers next year. This season, she was 2-4 with three saves and a 4.13 ERA, pitching 59 1/3 inning.

Lindsey Meadows will be avaibale again for the entire next season. The righthanded pitcher of the Netherlands National Team became a mother earlier in the year, but returned into action during the season. Meadows was 3-4 with a 2.77 and struckout 31 batters in 48 innings.
