Talent Team wins twice against DSS

HAARLEM (Neth.) -
The Talent Team Holland won both games on Sunday (May 8) against DSS, which made a total of 13 (!) defensive errors today.
The Talent Team won 6-4 and 7-2 and with that moved into a tie for second place in the Golden League.
In the opener, DSS briefly led 1-0, but the Talent Team then scored four runs in the fourth at bat.
In this game, DSS didn't play well defensively, which resulted in the Official Scorers registering nine (!) defensive errors.
Damishah Charles batted in three runs for the Talent Team, while Nathalie Gosewehr collected three basehits for DSS.
In the second game, the DSS-defense four more errors, making today a very unsuccessful day for the Haarlem-squad.
The Talent Team collected 12 basehits, including three by Isa Los and Annemiek Jansen.

DSS vs. Talent Team Holland (Game One)
In the opener, DSS faced a 4-1 deficit in the fourth inning and was unable to turn the game its way.
The Haarlem-squad committed nine (!) defensive errors, resulting in five unearned runs.
By the way, the four runs that DSS scored also were unearned, as the Talent Team committed three errors.
In the game, that lasted two hours and 13 minutes, there were a lot of baserunners and a total of 15 (both teams combined) were left behind.
In the top of the first inning, Brenda Beers, the lead-off hitter of the Talent Team, reached second base when a throwing error was made on her bunt.
She moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt, but then stranded.
In the first at bat for DSS, Annemiek de Rover walked and Nathalie Gosewehr singled, but after the first was forced out, two runners were left behind.
Both teams left a runner in the second inning, then the Talent Team got two runners in scoring position in the third at bat.
With one out, Brenda Beers again reached on an error, then another error followed on a force play-grounder by Damishah Charles, which led to runners on second and third base.
But hereafter, Dagmar Bloeming struckout the next two batters.
DSS opened the score in the bottom of the third.
With one out, Annemiek de Rover was hit by a pitch and Nathalie Gosewehr singled.
A double error on a possible force play-grounder by Areke Spel then gave DSS an 1-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, the Talent Team scored four runs on three hits, while the DSS-defense added three more errors.
Lead-off hitter Rachel van Veen reached on an error, stole second base with one out, then scored the tying run on a single by Lizzie Clarijs.
With two outs, the next run was scored on an error.
The third error in the inning on a grounder by WIes Ligtvoet plus a single by Brenda Beers led to runners on second and third base, then both scored on a single by Damishah Charles.
The Talent Team added two runs in the sixth inning off of new pitcher Svenja de Lincel.
Lizzie Clarijs and Rhowan Stuart both walked, then the ninth defensive error by DSS led to a run.
The second run in the at bat was scored on a sacrifice bunt by Damishah Charles.
In the bottom of the seventh, DSS scored three runs to narrow the deficit to 6-4.
With one out, Lorraine Kieft was hit by a pitch and with two outs, Annemiek de Rover reached on an error.
A single by Nathalie Gosewehr then brought in a run and Areke Spel followed with a 2-run double, but a flyout ended the inning and the game.

DSS vs. Talent Team Holland (Game Two)
In the second game, the Talent Team rallied for three runs in the first at bat and went on to win 7-2 against DSS, which this time made four defensive errors.
The team collected 12 basehits, including three by Annemiek Jansen and Isa Los.
This was another long game, which took two hours and 14 minutes.
In the first inning, Onaisha Franka led off with a walk, then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Britt Remmers and a single by Annemiek Jansen.
A pick-off attempt then ended in an error and a run, followed by an RBI-double by Isa Los and a runscoring single by Damishah Charles to make it 3-0.
DSS got one run back in its third at bat after having left two runners behind in the second inning.
In the third, Noa Brand doubled with one out, then Annemiek de Rover followed with a single.
With one out, the bases got loaded when Areke Spel walked, then a following walk for Lorraine Kieft led to the run.
However, DSS left three runners behind when a grounder ended the inning.
The Talent Team took more distance by scoring twice in the fourth inning.
With two outs, Annemiek Jansen and Laura Wissink singled, which led to runners on second and third base.
An illegal pitch and a single by Isa Los then lifted the lead to 5-1.
In the fifth, two more runs were added.
With two outs and Tammie Lijbers (fielder's choice) on first base, Onaisha Franka reached on a bunt-single.
The two moved on a wild pitch, then scored both when Britt Remmers reached on an error.
After the Talent Team stranded two runners in the top of the sixth inning, DSS scored its second and last run in the bottom of the at bat.
With one out, Denice van Dijk walked and scored on a following double by Belinda White.
But that was it for DSS, which accounted for a record-setting 13 defensive errors today.
