DSS and Olympia Haarlem win against each other

HAARLEM (Neth.) -
Haarlem-based teams DSS and FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem split their double-header on Saturday (May 14).
DSS shutout Olympia Haarlem 2-0 in the opener, scoring in the first and second inning.
DSS was outhit 4-3 by Olympia Haarlem.
Areke Spel (DSS) and Brenda Beers (Olympia) both had two basehits.
Dagmar Bloeming went the distance for DSS and struckout 12 batters.
In Game 2, Olympia Haarlem scored four runs in the third inning and three in the fourth and went on to win 8-1 in five innings.
Eva Voortman threw a 5-inning 2-hitter.

DSS vs. FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem (Game One)
In the opener, DSS decided the game early by scoring its runs in the first and second inning.
Strong pitching by Dagmar Bloeming did the rest.
The righthander struckout twelve batters and gave up only four basehits.
Offensively, DSS registered only three basehits off of Mariëlle Vleugels, who also walked six batters.
Only one basehit contributed to the runs DSS scored.
In the bottom of the first at bat, Nathalie Gosewehr walked for DSS with two outs.
She advanced on a wild pitch, then scored the first run when Areke Spel followed with a single.
The lead was doubled in the second inning.
Belinda White then led off with a walk and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Denice van Dijk.
After advancing to third base on a grounder by Lorraine Kieft, the Australian scored the second run for DSS when Dominique Burger reached on an error.
DSS failed to add more runs in the next two innings, leaving two runners behind in each at bat.
In the third, with one out, Nathalie Gosewehr walked and Areke Spel singled, resulting in runners at the corners.
After Spel had stolen second base, Gosewehr was eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder by Morgan Sampson, then a pop-fly ended the inning.
In the fourth, Denice van Dijk led off with a walk and moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt and a wild pitch, but stranded there.
Olympia Haarlem got its biggest scoring oportunity in the top of the third inning.
Trailing 2-0, the team fot the bases loaded with two outs.
With one out, Pauline Prade singled, but was forced out on a grounder by Eva Voortman.
Hereafter, Olympia got runners on second and third base when Brenda Beers singled.
A force play was set up by walking Dinet Oosting intentionally, but hereafter, Dagmar Bloeming closed with a strikeout.
In the final four innings, Olympia Haarlem got on base only one more time.
With two outs in the fourth, Tyla Morrison singled, but hereafter, Bloeming retired the next ten batters in a row, including six of them with a strikeout.

DSS vs. FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem (Game Two)
In the second game, winning pitcher Eva Voortman gave up only two basehits, while Olympia Haarlem collected nine off of two pitchers.
Leading 1-0, Olympia Haarlem decided the game with a 4-run rally in the third inning, then added three more in the fourth to reach a mercy-rule, run-difference.
Both teams got a scoring opportunity in the first inning.
Eva Voortman led off for Olympia with a walk and stole second base.
With one out, she also stole third base, but then was eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder towards short by Dinet Oosting.
For DSS, Annemiek de Rover and Nathalie Gosewehr both walked with one out, then advanced to second and third base on a wild pitch with two outs.
A strikeout then ended the at bat.
Olympia Haarlem then opened the score in the top of the second inning off of Svenja de Lincel, who made her first start of the season.
With one out, Maranca Ham singled.
She then tried to advance to third base on a single down the leftfield-line by Tyla Morrison, but was eliminated on third base.
Moments later, Morrison scored the first run when Rachel van Veen followed with a double.
A 4-run rally then followed in the third inning, but only two runs were earned.
With one out, Brenda Beers tripled and scored on a single by Dinet Oosting.
The latter tried to advance and appeared to be eliminated at second base, but an error followed.
Hereafter, Mariëlle Vleugels was walked intentionally, but then the bases got loaded when Stephanie Ruiter received a normal walk.
A single by Maranca Ham and walk for Tyla Morrison then brought in two runs.
With two outs, another run was scored when Judith Buschman was hit by a pitch.
Hereafter, Quincey Catsburg took over the pitching.
The inning then ended when Eva Voortman flied out in het second at bat.
Three runs were added in the fourth inning.
Brenda Beers reached on a bunt-single and stole second base, then Dinet Oosting walked.
A double steal-situation followed, then Mariëlle Vleugels singled in a run.
Stephanie Ruiter added a 2-run single to lift the lead to 8-0, making in a mercy-rule run-difference.
The eighth run was much needed, as DSS scored its lone run in the bottom of the fifth.
Lead-off hitter Dominique Burger was hit by a pitch, then the bases got loaded with one out when Melissa de Greef also was hit by a pitch and Noa Brand singled.
The run was then scored on a sacrifice fly by Annemiek de Rover, but a strikeout ended the inning and the game, due to the 7-run difference.
