De Glaskoning Twins vs. Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem (Game One)
Veteran righthander Rebecca Soumeru threw a strong game in the opener for Sparks Haarlem. The National Team-pitcher struckout nine batters and gave up only two basehits to become the first 5-game winner of the season in the Golden League.

Sparks Haarlem got into scoring position in the first two innings off of American starter Kaitlyn Medlam, but was unable to open the score. In the first at bat, Maxime van Dalen walked with two outs, then Anne Blaauwgeers singled, but a strikeout ended the at bat. In the second, with one out, Cindy van der Zanden singled and stole second with two outs, but also was left behind when a strikeout followed.

After being retired in order in the third, Sparks Haarlem opened the score with two runs with two outs in the fourth inning. Anne Blaauwgeers led off with a bunt-single, then stole both second and third base. Hereafter, Karin Tuk walked. Next batter Jenny Kinburn flied out to leftfield and that also resulted in a double play, as Blaauwgeers was eliminated at the plate on a fine throw by leftfielder Sandy Lauwers. Tuk advanced on the throw, then Cindy van der Zanden walked. After both runners had moved on a passed ball, they scored when Tammie Lijbers followed with a 2-run single off of Medlam. Last season, Lijbers caught Medlam when both played for Twins in the Silver League.

Rebecca Soumeru retired the side in the first inning, then gave up a lead-off single to Sophie Bugter in the second at bat. She moved on a sacrifice bunt by Michelle van Bodegom, but then was left behind.

Trailing 2-0, Twins got the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth inning. Lead-off hitter Minke Blok was hit by a pitch, then Sandy Lauwers singled. The two moved on a sacrifice bunt by Sophie Bugter, then the bases got loaded when Michelle van Bodegom walked. A flyout followed, then Soumeru closed with a strikeout and with that, three runners were left behind.

Sparks Haarlem added two insurance runs in the seventh inning, which were again scored with two outs. Tammie Lijbers led off with a single and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Kiki Draaijer. She was unable to advance on a following infield-hit by Kehli Washington, but then the two runners moved into scoring position on a grounder by Maaike Blaauwgeers. Both scored when next batter Maxime van Dalen singled to make it a 4-0 score.

After getting the bases loaded in the fourth, Rebecca Soumeru had a strong finish. She retired the last eleven batters in a row, including five strikeouts. In the bottom of the seventh inning, she ended the game with two strikeouts.

With Blaauwgeers on the bases, Karin Tuk walked and her temporary runner Jenny Kinburn went on to score on a single by Kiki Draaijer. Tammie Lijbers then reached on an error and Desiree Adriaansz was awarded first base on catcher's interference, which loaded the bases. In her second at bat in the inning, Kehli Washington delivered a 2-run single to lift the lead to 8-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, rookie Sterre den Duijn led off for Twins with a walk and went on to score when Sandy Lauwers reached on an error with two outs.

Sparks Haarlem reached the 7-run, mercy-rule difference in the top of the sixth by scoring two more runs. Damishah Charles then singled with one out, advanced on a single by Maaike Blaauwgeers and scored on a single by Anne Blaauwgeers. The bases got loaded when Karin Tuk was hit by a pitch, then a sacrifice fly by Jenny Kinburn made it 10-2. Hereafter, a walk for Kiki Draaijer re-loaded the bases, but three runners were left behind when a grounder ended the at bat.
