Twins vs. Tex Town Tigers (Game One)
Sometimes, a game exists of only one inning. Today's opener was such a game, as all runs were score in the third inning. Tex Town Tigers rallied for four runs in the top half, then Twins answered with six runs in their half.

Twins-starter Kaitlyn Medlam retired the side in the first inning, then gave up a 2-out single to Isa Los in the second inning, but closed with a strikeout.

But in the third at bat, the righthander ran into problems, as she gave up four runs. All runs were unearned, as the Twins-defense committed two errors. Aafje van Baal and Romy van der Wielen led off with walks and moved on a sacrifice bunt by Myrthe Smid. An error on a grounder by Amber Krijgsman loaded the bases. Next, Van Baal was forced out at the plate on a grounder by Annemiek Jansen, which would have been the third out. But now the bases were still loaded and there were two outs, but Tex Town Tigers would score four runs hereafter. First, Laura Wissink delivered a 2-run single, then an error on a grounder by Nadine Marinus re-loaded the bases. A following 2-run double by Isa Los made it 4-0. But that lead appeared not to be enough.

In the bottom of the third inning, Twins reacted with six runs. In the first two innings, Twins was held scoreless by starter Daniëlle ten Donkelaar, who was supported with an inning-ending double play in the second at bat with the bases loaded. The game then turned the way of Twins in the third inning. Minke Blok led off with a walk, then the bases got loaded with one out when Sandy Lauwers singled and Sophie Bugter walked. A following walk for Michelle van Bodegom brought in an automatic run, but also led to a pitching change. Amber Krijgsman took over to make her first pitching-appearance of the season, but was greeted with basesloaded runscoring singles by Noor Godefroy and Kate Geldof, then walked Kelly De Lannoy, which tied the score at 4-4. Another pitching change followed, as Anna-Bè Bartels was brought in. But she gave up a runscoring single to Femke Duffhues, which was followed by a runscoring force play-grounder by Minke Blok in her second at bat in the inning. And that suddenly changed the score to 6-4 in favor of Twins.

In the remainder of the game, Tex Town Tigers got several chances to add more runs, but was uable to do so. In the fourth, Aafje van Baal led off with a walk, then moved on a sac-bunt by Romy van der Wielen and reached third base when Myrthe Smid singled. Hereafter, an error followed on a bunt by Amber Krijgsman with the ball ending up in foul territory behind first base. Righftielder Noor Godefroy, who covered the play, fielded the ball and got it in time to catcher Kelly De Lannoy to eliminate Van Baal at the plate. However, Krijgsman was credited with a sacrifice bunt, as she succesfully had moved another runner (Smid). But hereafter, a strikeout followed, meaning runners were left on second and third base.

In the top of the fifth, Laura Wissink led off for TTT with a double and Isa Los singled with one out, but they were also left behind. And in the seventh, a runner stranded on third base.

Twins didn't get into scoring position anymore in the remainder of the game off of Bartels, but the 2-run difference proved to be enough for the home team.
