Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem vs. DSS (game one)
DSS got into scoring position first in the top of the second inning off of Kirsten Scheele, who made her second start in two weeks for Sparks Haarlem since coming out of retirement.
In the second, the righthander gave up a lead-off single to Sophie Bugter, then a 2-out single to Annemiek de Rover, but they were left behind, as centerfielder Kingsley Avery made a diving catch on a line drive by Lorraine Kieft.
While it appeared that the ball had been in contact with the ground shortly before or after the catch, it was ruled a flyout and so, the inning ended.
In the bottom of the second inning, Sparks Haarlem rallied for three runs, which appeared to be a decisive early lead.
DSS-starter Dagmar Bloeming gave up singles to Maxime van Dalen and Virginie Anneveld, who then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Kehli Washington.
With first base open, Karin Tuk was walked intentionally.
Not only to set up a force play, but also of course to pitch around the powerhitter.
But hereafter, Tammie Lijbers singled through the middle to put Sparks Haarlem ahead, 1-0.
Onaisha Franka then grounded towards third, which led to a force out at the plate, but kept the bases loaded.
After Kehli Washington was inserted as temporary runner for Lijbers, Kingsley Avery delivered a 2-run single to make it a 3-0 score.
However, the early 3-0 lead was not as comfortable as it looked.
Sparks Haarlem left two runners behind in the bottom of the third inning and then DSS struck with three runs in the top of the fourth to come alongside.
Sophie Bugter led off with a double (which hit the fence in centerfield), but injured herself while sliding into second base and was replaced by pinch-runner Gijsje Hoogeveen.
She moved on a grounder, then Feline Poot walked and Annemiek de Rover followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 3-1 score.
It appeared that Hoogeveen had left third base too early on the sac-fly, but she was ruled safe after an appeal and so, she scored a run.
Next batter Lorraine Kieft then lined the ball into left-centerfield.
The ball hit something and jumped back onto the field.
For a moment, it was thought that the ball had hit the top of the fence, but in reality, the ball had hit a light-pole behind the fence.
The umpires saw it correctly and ruled it a homerun, which made it a 3-3 score.
For Lorraine Kieft, who is playing in her fourth big league-season, this was her first career-homerun.
For Kirsten Scheele, it was the first time she gave up a homerun since June 19, 2015.
Back then, it also was a player of DSS who homered, being Annemiek de Rover.
In the bottom of the fourth, Sparks Haarlem again got into scoring position, but was unable to break the tie.
Tammie Lijbers led off with a walk, then moved on a grounder and a single by Kingsley Avery.
Moments later, Maaike Blaauwgeers grounded the ball towards the leftside of the infield where pitcher Dagmar Bloeming made a great play tagging out Lijbers, who had left her base.

DSS then took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning, which ended with a rare double play.
Lisa Waasdorp led off with a walk and move on a sacrifice bunt by Morgan Sampson and a wild pitch.
Sophie Bugter, who re-entered in the game as pinch-hitter, then walked, which led to a pitching change.
Rebecca Soumeru took over, but was greeted with a runscoring single by Denice van Dijk, which gave DSS the lead.
With Bugter on second base and Van Dijk on first base, the first was forced out on a grounder by Feline Poot to 3B Virginie Anneveld, who made a great play.
The veteran infielder then tried to complete a double play at first base, where Poot reached safely.
However, Van Dijk, who had advanced to second base, then tried to move to third base on the throw, but was eliminated there on the throw back from 1B Maxime van Dalen.
With this, a double play was completed with two runners being eliminated at third base, while the batter had reached first base safely.
After Rebecca Soumeru had struckout the side in the top of the sixth inning, Sparks Haarlem came alongside in its sixth.
Lead-off hitter Karin Tuk was hit by a pitch.
Her pinch-runner Desiree Adriaansz advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Tammie Lijbers, but was unable to move on a infield-hit by Onaisha Franka.
The two runners then advanced on a grounder by Kingsley Avery and Maaike Blaauwgeers followed with a runscoring single to make it a 4-4 score.
Franka moved to third base, but was left there.
In the top of the seventh inning, DSS got a chance to re-take the lead.
With two outs and Morgan Sampson (fielder's choice) at first base, Sophie Bugter (3-for-3) singled, which led to runners on second and third base.
However, a flyout ended the inning.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Maxime van Dalen led off with a single.
Her pinch-runner Anne Blaauwgeers then stole second base and scored the winning run when Virginie Anneveld (3-for-4) followed with a walk-off double to make it 5-4 in favor of Sparks Haarlem.
