Terrasvogels shuts out Tex Town Tigers twice

ENSCHEDE (Neth.) -
Terrasvogels shutout Tex Town Tigers twice on Saturday (June 10) to remain in second place in the Golden League.
In the opener, Terrasvogels nipped Tex Town Tigers only 1-0.
In the second game, Terrasvogels registered a more comfortable 6-0 victory.
In the opener, TTT outhit Terrasvogels 8-4, but was unable to score.
In the second game, Terrasvogels collected 13 hits, including four by Jessica Waasdorp and three by Suka Van Gurp, who doubled, tripled and homered.
Winning pitcher Micaela Whitney threw a 2-hitter and struckout nine batters.
Today was the second meeting this season between the father-son-coaching-duo of Jaap Braakman (Tex Town Tigers) and Nick Braakman (Terrasvogels).
In their first meeting on May 6, they split the double-header in Santpoort.

Tex Town Tigers vs. Terrasvogels (game one)
In the opener, Terrasvogels got its first runner in scoring position in the top of the sixth inning and that also led to the lone run in the game.
Tex Town Tigers stranded four runners in scoring position, but also unnecessary ended scoring opportunities on the basepaths.
In the bottom of the second inning, Tex Town Tigers got a big opportunity to open the score when it got the bases loaded with no outs!
Lindsey Meadows led off with a single off of Dani Bonnet, who then gave up bunt-singles to Nadine Marinus and Aafje van Baal that loaded the bases.
Hereafter, Terrasvogels made a double play.
Daniëlle ten Donkelaar popped up towards second base and was called out on an infield-fly.
However, Aafje van Baal was not on her base and was eliminated at first base to complete the double play.
A flyout ended the scoring opportunity.
The Terrasvogels-defense made another double play in the third inning.
Olivia Hornstein led off with a bunt-single and moved on a sacrifice bunt by Lizzy Uytendaal.
Next batter Annemiek Jansen lined the ball back to pitcher Dani Bonnet, who caught the ball and completed a double play at second base.
In the fourth, the home team got another runner in scoring position when Laura Wissink reached on an error and stole second base, but she also stranded.
In the fifth, with one out, Myrthe Smid reached on a bunt-single.
It appeared that she then was forced out on a grounder by Olivia Hornstein, but that was reversed.
Hornstein was called out for stepping on home plate while making contact with the ball and so Smid returned to first base.
Moments later, she reached second base on a passed ball, but was left behind.
In the top of the sixth inning, Terrasvogels scored the lone run in the game.
Pinch-hitter Sanne Korpel led off with a single.
Her pinch-runner Dervisa Mutic (who re-entered) then stole second base with two outs and moved to third base on a wild pitch.
Next batter Lizzie Clarijs hit the ball back to pitcher Lindsey Meadows, who made a fielding error, which enabled Mutic to score.
It was the second comeback-hit to Meadows in the game.
In the third inning, it was Gabi Obia, who hit a harder grounder towards the righthander, which was ruled an infield-hit.
But this grounder was more playable and ended in an error.
In the bottom of the sixth, with one out, Laura Wissink singled for Tex Town Tigers, but was forced out on a grounder by Lindsey Meadows.
Hereafter, Nadine Marinus singled into short rightfield.
It was clear that Meadows was unable to reach third base, but she wasn't stopped and so, she was eliminated at third base on a throw from rightfielder Dervisa Mutic, which ended the inning.
Terrasvogels got a chance to add an insurance run in the top of the seventh.
Ella Krommendijk led off with a single, then moved to second base when a pick-off ended in a throwing error.
She advanced to third base on a single by Rhowan Stuart, who got into scoring position herself on the throw to third.
With runners on second and third base and one out, Lindsey Meadows struckout the next batter.
2B Nadine Marinus then caught a line drive from Dervisa Mutic to end the at bat.
Dani Bonnet retired the side in the bottom of the seventh to seal the minimal lead and record her eighth victory of the season.

Tex Town Tigers vs. Terrasvogels (game two)
In the second game, Terrasvogels took charge of the game much quicker, scoring three runs in the first inning.
They also was more productive offensively, collecting 13 basehits off of three pitchers.
Four of them were hit by Jessica Waasdorp, including two doubles.
Suka Van Gurp went 3-for-4 and only missed the most easy basehit to hit for-the-cycle.
She doubled, tripled and homered, but missed the single.
Winning pitcher Micaela Whitney struckout nine batters and gave up only two basehits in going the distance for Terrasvogels.
In the top of the first inning, off of starter Anna-Bè Bartels, Terrasvogels scored three runs.
Gabi Obia led off with a single, then Lizzie Clarijs singled with one out.
Both runners scored when Suka Van Gurp followed with a 2-run double.
Moments later, she scored herself when a hit by Ella Krommendijk ended in two errors.
After stranding a runner on third base in the second inning, Terrasvogels added a run in the third when Suka Van Gurp led off with a line drive homerun into left-centerfield.
Terrasvogels made it a 5-0 score in the fourth at bat.
Gabi Obia led off with a walk, which was followed by a pitching change.
Daniëlle ten Donkelaar took over from Anna-Bè Bartels, but gave up a double to Sanne Korpel.
Obia was waved home, but was eliminated at the plate on a strong throw from leftfielder Cheyenne Scheffer.
On the throw, Korpel moved to third base and she then scored on a sacrifice fly by Lizzie Clarijs.
With one out in the fifth inning, Jessica Waasdorp hit her second double in the game, but was left behind for the third time.
In the sixth, Terrasvogels appeared to do some more scoring.
Pinch-hitter Jeske Meewisse led off with a double and was replaced by pinch-runner Dervisa Mutic (who re-entered), then Gabi Obia walked.
Another pitching change followed, as leftfielder Cheyenne Scheffer and pitcher Daniëlle ten Donkelaar switched positions.
A double play followed, then the inning ended when rightfielder Kimberley Zehnder made a nice diving catch on a line drive by Lizzie Clarijs.
Terrasvogels scored its sixth run in the seventh at bat.
Suka Van Gurp led off with a triple and scored on a following single by Ella Krommendijk.
Jessica Waasdorp then singled, her fourth basehit in the game, but the two runners were left behind on second and third base.
Terrasvogels-pitcher Micaela Whitney got only one baserunner in scoring position in the first six innings.
The American righthander retired the first five batters she faced, then gave up a single to Nadine Marinus, which would be the lone one she gave up until the sixth.
After retiring the side again in the third and fourth inning, Whitney walked Lindsey Meadows and Nadine Marinus, but eliminated the next three batters.
The inning ended when 1B Kimberly Jones caught a line drive from Myrthe Smid.
After Micaela Whithey had retired the side for the fourth time in the sixth, she gave up a lead-off double to Laura Wissink in the seventh.
Hereafter, Lindsey Meadows walked.
A force out at third base followed on a grounder by Nadine Marinus.
With two outs, Meadows stole third base, but the game then ended with a flyout.
