Tex Town Tigers vs. Roef! (game two)
In the second game, Tex Town Tigers again faced an early deficit, but took a 2-1 lead in the third at bat.
But this time, it was Roef! that turned the game its way, as it led from the fourth inning on.
Roef! opened the score in the top of the first inning off of Anna-Bè Bartels.
With one out, Kim Donkers singled and scored when (former TTT-player) Isa Los followed with a triple.
After Roef! left a runner behind on third base in the top of the third inning, Tex Town Tigers scored twice in its third at bat off of starter Marjolein Merkx.
Myrthe Smid led off with a walk and Annemiek Jansen walked with one out.
Nadine Marinus then reached on an infield-hit, which was followed by a throwing error that led to the tying run.
The bases got loaded when Laura Wissink also walked.
Another walk followed, this time for Jasmine Peters to give TTT a 2-1 lead.
Hereafter, three runners were left behind when a flyout ended the inning.
Roef! answered with three runs on five hits with two outs in the top of the fourh to take over the lead again.
And this time for good.
With one out and Mikayla Endicott (fielder's choice) on first base, the bases got loaded when Manon van Alebeek (infield-hit) and Eva van Knegsel (bunt) both singled.
After an infield-fly, a single by Naftely Pietersz brought in the tying run.
With the bases still loaded, Lindsey Meadows took over the pitching, but Roef! then scored another run on a passed ball and a runscoring single by Wies Ligtvoet followed to make it a 5-3 score.
Pietersz also tried to score, but was eliminated at the plate, ending the inning.
TTT got one run back in the bottom of the fourth when Myrthe Smid tripled with one out and scored on a single by Olivia Hornstein.
Roef! took some more distance by scoring three runs with two outs in the sixth.
Manon van Alebeek led off with a single and Roef! then went from ten to nine players in its line-up.
Maureen van Poorten, who was listed in 10th position, was inserted as pinch-runner for designated player Van Alebeek and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Eva van Knegsel.
With two outs, pinch-hitter Ilse van Kerkoerle, Wies Ligtvoet and Kim Donkers hit back-to-back-to-back RBI-doubles to bring in three runs and made it a 7-3 score.
These runs were much needed, as TTT rallied for three runs of its own in the bottom of the sixth off of Mikayla Endicott, who had taken over the pitching during the previous inning.
With one out, Myrthe Smid and Olivia Hornstein singled and scored when Annemiek Jansen followed with a triple.
Moments later, Jansen scored on a grounder by Nadine Marinus to narrow the deficit to 7-6.
In the bottom of the seventh, Jasmine Peters reached second base on an error with one out, but was left behind.
And with that, Roef! won to split the double-header.
