Roef! and Tex Town Tigers shutout each other
Nederlands
MOERGESTEL (Neth.) -
Roef! and Tex Town Tigers recorded a shutout against each other on Saturday (July 15) to split their double-header, as the season resumed in the Golden League.
The season was interrupted after games played on June 17 and 18 for the European Championship in Bollate (Italy).
That event ended on Saturday, July 1 with the Netherlands Softball Team capturing the title by winning the Final against Italy with a 7-1 score.
There also were no games scheduled in the highest league in the weekend of July 8 and 9.
In today's opener, the game remained scoreless for six innings.
Tex Town Tigers then rallied for six runs in the top of the seventh inning to win 6-0.
In the second game, it was Roef! that did the scoring.
Leading 4-0 after five innings, the team reached the 7-run, mercy-rule difference in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Roef! collected 14 basehits, including four by Wies Ligtvoet.
Winning pitcher Mikayla Endicott gave up only three hits.
For Tex Town Tigers, another interruption follows now, as it has no games scheduled in the upcoming two weekends..
The team will play its next games on August 5.

Roef! vs. Tex Town Tigers (game one)
Today's opener remained scoreless for six innings in what was a pitching-duel between Marjolein Merkx and Lindsey Meadows.
Merkx gave up only two basehits as the starter for Roef!, while Meadows went the distance for Tex Town Tigers.
She gave up five hits in the first six innings.
Marjolein Merkx threw six solid innings and allowed TTT to get into scoring position only twice.
The righthander retired the first eleven batters she faced, then her Perfect Game and No-Hitter ended when Annemiek Jansen reached on a bunt-single with two outs in the fourth.
She was able to move to second base when a throwing error followed, but then stranded.
In the fifth, Lindsey Meadows led off for TTT with a single and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by Nadine Marinus, but also stayed behind on second base.
Roef! recorded one basehit in each of the first five innings and also left two runners behind in scoring position in the first six at bats.
In the first inning, Wies Ligtvoet led off with a single and stole second base, but was left behind.
In the second inning, it was Isa Los who opened with a single, but she stranded on first base.

Cindy van der Zanden and Naftely Pietersz both singled with two outs in respectively the third and fourth inning, but also were left on first base.
In the fifth, Roef! got its second runner in scoring scoring position.
With one out, Gini Ketelaars reached on an infield-hit and moved on a grounder, but stranded.
And so, when the seventh inning began, no runner had reached third base.
That changed in the top of the seventh inning when Tex Town Tigers rallied for six runs with two outs!
Only two of the runs were earned.
While Marjolein Merkx was doing well, she was relieved by Mikayla Endicott in the seventh inning, but she ran into problems.
The American righthander was greeted with a lead-off single from Laura Wissink.
She moved to second base after a bunt by Lindsey Meadows popped up and was caught.
Hereafter, Nadine Marinus was hit by a pitch, then an infield-fly accounted for the second out.
Next, Wissink stole third base and when the pitch ended up as a passed ball, Marinus also moved and TTT had runners on second and third base.
The bases then got loaded when pinch-hitter Anna-Bè Bartels also was hit by a pitch.
The score was then opened when pinch-hitter Daniëlle ten Donkelaar delivered a 2-run single.
Two more runs were added when Olivia Hornstein reached on an error, which could have been the third out.
Next batter Lizzy Uytendaal singled and Annemiek Jansen followed with a runscoring single that made it a 5-0 score.
A passed ball accounted for the sixth run, before a strikeout ended the long and productive inning.
In the bottom of the seventh, Lindsey Meadows walked Mikayla Endicott with two outs, but she was forced out to end the game.

Roef! vs. Tex Town Tigers (game two)
In the second game, Mikayla Endicott started for Roef! and did very well.
After giving six runs on four hits in the seventh inning of the previous game, she now went the distance, gave up only three hits and threw a shutout.
Offensively, Roef! collected fourteen basehits off of three pitchers, including four by Wies Ligtvoet.
She became only the third player this season to have record four basehits in one game.
The first to do so was Katharina Szalay (Terrasvogels) on April 22.
Jessica Waasdorp (also Terrasvogels) became the second player with a 4-hit game on June 10.
Roef! opened the score quickly, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning off of starter Anna-Bè Bartels.
Wies Ligtvoet led off with a single, but was forced out on a grounder by Cindy van der Zanden, who went on to score the first run when next batter Manoa Weijgertse followed with a triple.
With two outs, the next run was scored on a single by Isa Los, who later scored the third run in the inning when an outfield-error followed a single by Eva van Knegsel.
With two outs in the second inning, Wies Ligvoet singled again.
She then tried to score on a double by Cindy van der Zanden, but was eliminated at the plate.

Roef! added a run in the third at bat when, with one out, Kim Donkers and Isa Los hit back-to-back doubles.
The home team got on base again in the fourth, but left two runners.
Sophie Mollee led off with a single and Wies Ligtvoet reached on a bunt-single with one out, but they were left behind.
Roef!-pitcher Mikayla Endicott allowed only one batter to reach base in the first four innings.
With two outs in the second inning, she gave up a single to Nadine Marinus, but closed with a strikeout.
Tex Town Tigers got into scoring position for the first time in the fifth inning.
With one out, Nadine Marinus walked and Aafje van Baal singled, but this time, two strikeouts followed.
Endicott struckout seven batters in this game.
After TTT had stranded a runner on first base in the top of the sixth inning, Roef! reached the 7-run difference moments later.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Sophie Mollee led off with a single, then her pinch-runner Gini Ketelaars moved on a wild pitch.
She advanced to third base on a single by Britt Remmers, who then stole second base.
Both scored when Wies Ligtvoet delivered her fourth basehit in the game.
That was followed by two errors, enabling Ligtvoet to move to third base.
After a pitching change and with one out, Ligtvoet scored the final run on a walk-off single by Manoa Weijgertse that ended the game, as a mercy-rule run-difference had been reached.
With today's double-header split, Tex Town Tigers and Roef! remain each others rival for the fourth place in the standings.
The four best teams in the league will qualify for the Play-Offs and will play for the Championship-title.
The team that finishes in last place has to play the best-of-one Promotion/Relegation Play-Off against the second-best team of Silver League.
Roef! is four points (two games) ahead of DSS, which is currently in sixth place.
