Sparks Haarlem adds New Zealand-outfielder Kingsley Avery to roster

HAARLEM (Neth.) -
Reigning Dutch champion Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem has added New Zealand-outfielder Kingsley Avery to its roster, the club announced earlier this week.
In the past wintermonths, the 23-year old lefthanded hitter was a teammate of Netherlands National Team-player Virginie Anneveld.
Both played for Western Magpies and captured the New Zealand championship-title at the Open Women's Club's Championship last weekend.
In the Final, she was the lead-off hitter and batted 1-for-3.

In February, she played for the Auckland-team that captured the title at the National Fastpitch Championship.
In the Final, Auckland won 5-2 against Wellington and the outfielder batted 1-for-3 and scored a run.
Last year, Kingsley Avery participated with the National Team of New Zealand in the World Championship in Surrey (Canada).
In 2011, she as a member of the National Junior-squad that finished in fourth place in the Women Junior Championship in South Africa.
From 2013-2016, Kingsley Avery played college-softball in the USA.
There, she was a leading hitter in the Gyrenes, the softball-team of Ave Maria University in Florida.
In her first and second season with the team, the New Zealand-outfielder led the team with a high batting average, respectively .417 and .433.
She also led the team in basehits, runs scored and stolen bases.
In 2013, she was named the Most Valuable Player of the team.
,,We were looking for a good outfielder and are happy that we have found her'', said Peter van Dalen, the Head Coach of Sparks Haarlem.
Both Virginie Anneveld and Kingsley Avery will join the team of Sparks Haarlem later next week to participate in the annual J.C.J. Mastenbroek Tournament in Enschede.
Tex Town Tigers will host the event at its site on March 31 through April 2.
