Complete Schedule

Tex Town Tigers vs. DSS (game one)
The opener of today's double-header offered a lot of suspense, as it was a close game that was decided in the bottom of the seventh inning. Tex Town Tigers led 1-0 after two innings, but DSS came alongside in the top of the seventh, only to see, the home team decided the game moments later.

Tex Town Tigers was outhit 7-5 and made three defensive errors, but nevertheless left the field victorious.

Tex Town Tigers stranded a runner on first base in the first inning, but then opened the score in the next at bat off of Dagmar Bloeming, scoring an unearned run. Lead-off hitter Nadine Marinus reached second base on a throwing error, then stole third base with one out and scored on a 2-out single by Aafje van Baal. The latter then stole second base, but was caught stealing moments later at third base.

Hereafter, both teams were unable to score. TTT left a runner behind on second base in the third and another one on third base in the fifth inning.

DSS got into scoring position again in the top of the sixth off of Lindsey Meadows, who had taken over the pitching during the fifth inning. Lead-off hitter Morgan Sampson reached on an error and moved on an one-out single by Sophie Bugter, but they were left behind.

DSS then did score in the top of the seventh. Lindsey Meadows began the inning with her 1,300th career strikeout, then a grounder followed. With two outs, Melissa de Greef was hit by a pitch, then the bases got loaded when Lisa Waasdorp reached on an infield-hit and Morgan Sampson walked. Noa Brand followed with a single through the middle that tied the score. Waasdorp was also waved home, but she was eliminated at the plate after a nice throw from centerfielder Jasmine Peters, which ended the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, Lindsey Meadows led off with a single, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Jasmine Peters and scored the winning run on a walk-off single by Aafje van Baal.

Tex Town Tigers vs. DSS (game two)
In the second game, Tex Town Tigers recorded a more convincing 9-2 victory and ended the game via the mercy-rule in the sixth inning. In this game, the home team collected eleven basehits, including three by Annemiek Jansen and Laura Wissink, who also homered, as did Lindsey Meadows.

DSS opened the score in the top of the first inning with one run, but it could have been more, as it had runners on second and third base with only one out. Lead-off hitter Noa Brand was hit by a pitch, then moved on a sacrifice bunt by Morgan Sampson and a single by Sophie Bugter. Brand then scored when Feline Poot reached on an error. With Bugter on third base, Poot stole second base, but they were left behind.

The lead was shortlived, as Tex Town Tigers answered with two runs in its first at bat. Olivia Hornstein led off with a single and scored the tying run when Annemiek Jansen followed with a triple. Moments later, the latter scored on a passed ball.

DSS came alongside in the third inning. Morgan Sampson led off with a walk. Hereafter, Lindsey Meadows relieved starter Cheyenne Scheffer. She began with a strikeout, but then gave up an RBI-double to Feline Poot, who herself was eliminated at third base trying to stretch her hit into a triple.

In the bottom of the third inning, Tex Town Tigers struck with four runs to turn the game its way. Annemiek Jansen led off with her second triple in the game to become the first player to do so this season. Hereafter, Jasmine Peters walked and Laura Wissink followed with a 3-run homerun. With one out, Lindsey Meadows hit her third homerun of the season, which gave TTT a 6-2 lead and led to a pitching change.

In the top of the fourth, DSS got runners on second and third base with one out. Dominique Burger then doubled and Melissa de Greef's single was followed by an outfield-error. Shortly hereafter, Burger was eliminated at the plate trying to score on a grounder towards third base by Quincey Catsburg and a grounder ended the at bat.

DSS again stranded two runners in the fifth inning. With one out, Sophie Bugter and Feline Poot singled and moved to second and third base on a passed ball, but were left behind.

Tex Town Tigers took more distance by scoring two runs in the fifth inning. With one out, the team had Nadine Marinus (fielder's choice) and Lindsey Meadows (single plus error) on second and third base. And where DSS was unable to score, TTT did. A sacrifice fly by Aafje van Baal and pinch-hit single by Danielle ten Donkelaar enabled both runners to score and lift the lead to 8-2.

In the top of the sixth, DSS left two runners behind for the third consecutive time, then TTT reached the 7-run, mercy-rule difference moments later. With two outs, Jasmine Peters struckout, but reached on a wild pitch. She then moved on a single by Laura Wissink. After a double-steal, Peters scored on a walk-off single by Nadine Marinus to end the game.
