Netherlands vs. Dominican Republic
The Netherlands got a chance to open the score in the top of the first inning.
With one out, Onaisha Franka singled, stole second base on a strikeout and was awarded third base on an illegal pitch, but then was left behind.
The Dominicans then opened the score in the bottom of the first inning off of starting pitcher Nina Hendriks.
Lead-off hitter Claudia Santana led off with a bad-hop single down the first base-line.
She then stole second base, advanced on a grounder and scored on another grounder.
In the top of the second inning, the first two Orange-batters reached base, but were left behind.
Uchenna Jong Loy reached on an infield-hit and Ismay Poot followed with a bunt-single.
This was followed by a defensive change, as a new player was inserted at first base.
With one out, the two runners moved on a passed ball, but then were left behind.
In the third inning, the Netherlands took a 3-1 lead on some good hitting and running.
Yindi Beekveldt led off with a walk, moved on a sacrifice bunt by Onaisha Franka, then reached third base on a bunt-single by Feline Poot.
Moments later, Beekveldt scored the tying run on a wild pitch.
Poot advanced to second base and was able to move to third base on the throw to the plate trying to eliminate Beekveldt.
Hereafter, Rhowan Stuart grounded the ball towards second base.
While there was an opportunity to eliminate Stuart at first base, it was opted to eliminate Poot at the plate, but she simply was too fast and slid in safely, putting the Netherlands ahead 2-1.
Hereafter, Uchenna Jong Loy drilled the ball into rightfield for a triple that brought in Stuart and made it a 3-1 score.
Unfortunately, this was it what the runs are concerned for the Netherlands, which got only one more runner in scoring position in the remainder of the game.
The third inning ended with two good defenisive plays from 3B Alexandra Mena.
First, Ismay Poot bunted the ball towards third base where Mena fielded the ball and got it in time to short stop Jessica Rivera to eliminate Jong Loy, who was unable to return in time to third base.
Hereafter, a line drive from Tammie Lijbers was caught in foul territory by Mena.

The Dominican Republic came alongside immediately in its third at bat.
Alexa Isabel Sanchez and Claudia Santana led off with singles through the middle, which led to a pitching change.
Nicole van Eijl took over, but she saw both runners scored when a sacrifice bunt by Daniela Bautista ended in a throwing error.
With the score now at 3-3, Bautista moved to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Jayla Alexa Perez, but stranded there.
Short stop Feline Poot caught a line drive and 2B Onaisha Franka caught a pop-fly to end the inning.
In the fourth, the Netherlands got its final runner in scoring position.
With one out, Rose Mwaro singled, as did Onaisha Franka with two outs, but a flyout closed the at bat.
In the remaining three innings, only one Dutch batter was able to reach base again.
That was Rose Mwaro, who singled with two outs in the sixth inning, but she was left behind on first base.
Defensively, there were some good Orange-plays in the fourth and fifth inning.
In the fourth, Katherine Sugilio singled, but her pinch-runner Suehellen Lecaros was caught stealing.
The next batter then walked, but a nice double play from Rhowan Stuart (3B) to Onaisha Franka (2B) to Rose Mwaro (1B) ended the inning.
Nicole van Eijl retired the side in the fifth inning, thanks to three grounders.
The Dominicans turned the game its way in the bottom of the sixth.
Jayla Alexa Perez led off with a double, then her pinch-runner Heidy Olivo scored when an error was made on a following grounder by Jessica Rivera.
With the latter on second base, Roos-Marijn Kramer took over the Dutch pitching and began with a strikeout.
Moments later, Olivo took off to steal third base, appeared to be eliminated and was called out, but both the runner and the Dominican 3B Coach argued.
The call was reversed by Australian home plate umpire Warren Duff, who saw that the ball was not under control, but that appeared to be the result of a 'transfer' after the tag had been made.
Shortly hereafter, Olivo scored the next run when she beat the throw to the plate on a sacrifice bunt by Suehellen Lecaros to make it a 5-3 score.
