Tex Town Tigers opens Mastenbroek Tournament with small win

Tex Town Tigers opened the 34th edition of the annual J.C.J. Mastenbroek Tournament on Friday-evening with a a minimal score of 1-0 against Terrasvogels.
The organisor of the event scored an unearned run in the fourth inning to secure its first win in Pool A.
Also playing in Pool A are FysioExpert Olympia Haarlem, Roef! and the National Team of Switzerland.
Playing in Pool B are DSS, Oolders Omaco Sparks Haarlem, De Glaskoning Twins, SK Joudrs Praha (Czech Republic) and the National Team of Germany.
The tournament continues on Saturday-morning with the first games beginning at 10 AM.
In the opener of Friday-evening, both teams got a chance to open the score in the first inning.
Terrasvogels got the bases loaded with two outs when Lizzie Clarijs doubled, Suka Van Gurp walked and Kelly Koeman reached on an infield-hit.
They all stranded when a grounder ended the at bat.

For Tex Town Tigers, Olivia Hornstein led off with an infield-hit and advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Lizzy Uytendaal.
Hereafter, Annemiek Jansen walked, but she was forced out.
That brought Hornstein to third base, but she also stranded there.
Hereafter, a pitching duel between Lindsey Meadows-Oosterveld (TTT) and Dani Bonnet (Terrasvogels) followed.
Veteran righthander Lindsey Meadows gave up a lead-off single to Jeske Meewisse in the second, but then retired nine batters in a row, including six strikeouts (five consecutive).
Righthander Dani Bonnet retired seven batters in a row from the first inning on.
She then saw Tex Town Tigers open the score in the bottom of the fourth with an unearned run.
Lead-off hitter Annemiek Jansen reached second base on a throwing error, then scored on an one-out double by Laura Wissink.
Terrasvogels got another baserunner again in the top of the fifth inning, but that was very briefly.
Katharina Szalay led off the at bat as pinch-hitter and reached on a bunt-single.
Moments later, she was picked off at first base by catcher Aafje van Baal and Meadows then retired the next two batters.
That also ended the game, as the 70-minute time-rule had expired.
According to tournament-rules, a game ends after seven innings or 70 minutes.
Winning pitcher Lindsey Meadows dominated, struckout eight batters and gave up four basehits.
On the other hand, Dani Bonnet gave up only two basehits, but was left empty-handed.
