 Johan and Rob Korpel new coaches of Birds

Johan Korpel and his brother Rob Korpel are the new coaches of Silver League-team Birds.
This was confirmed on Sunday (January 14).
Johan Korpel will be the Head Coach of the team and will be assisted by his brother.

Last year, Birds was led by veteran coach André Prins, who was assisted by Vera Van De Ven and Gregory Grampon.
The team from Zoetermeer then finished in second place in the first half of the regular season to qualify for the Promotion Pool.
Birds then closed this Pool with a 10-10 record to finish in a tie for third place with Euro Stars.
In 2015, Birds had promoted to the Silver League by winning the Silver League/First Division Promotion/Relegation Play-Off.
In the past, Birds also had played in the Dutch big league.
Last season, Johan Korpel coached the second team of Twins, which was the talent-team of the club from Oosterhout.
Rob Korpel was not active in 2017.
Johan Korpel played in the baseball big league as a catcher for Neptunus, for whom he also had been the Bullpen Coach for awhile.
Rob Korpel has been the Head Coach of the women softball-team of Robur '58 some years ago when its played in the Dutch big league.
In 2012, he was the Assistant Coach at Amsterdam Pirates in the second highest league.
After eight games in the 2013 season, he took over the coaching from then-Head Coach Ton van Koeverden, who stepped down.
Despite already being the coach of the second team of Euro Stars, Johan then was named Rob's Assistant.
He was able to combine both positions, as Euro Stars played its games on other days than Amsterdam Pirates.
In 2014, Johan Korpel was the Head Coach of the Amsterdam Pirates softball-team and was assisted by his brother.
Johan stepped down after the season, while Rob went on to coach at Centrals in the 2015 season.
