Sparks Haarlem tonight played with another former regular player in its starting line-up.
Kim Kluijskens and Sabine Franssen made their comeback in the big league last Saturday.
Tonight, outfielder Marloes Fellinger was the designated player and played in her first game at the highest level after having retired some years ago.
The team is bothered by some injuries at the moment.
Chantal Versluis is one of the injured players, as she is sidelined with a hamstring-injury.
Sparks Haarlem took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning off of starter Eva Voortman.
The lefthander walked lead-off hitter Kingsley Avery, who stole second base moments later.
With two outs, she scored on a single by Maxime van Dalen, but this was to be the lone run the team scored tonight.
Kirsten Scheele, another veteran who was added to the roster at the beginning of the season, started for Sparks Haarlem.
The righthander threw four scoreless innings in which she gave up only two basehits.
Olympia Haarlem then struck with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off of new pitcher Ginger de Weert.
Rosanne de Vries led off as pinch-hitter and walked, then scored the tying run when Emma Wójcik, also a pinch-hitter, followed with a double.
Wójcik moved to third base on the throw the plate and later scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball.
Hereafter, Brenda Beers walked and moved on a sacrifice bunt by Eva Voortman and a single by Dinet Oosting.
The bases got loaded when Jessie van Aalst walked.
The next run was scored while Oosting was forced out on third base on a grounder by Mariëlle Vleugels.
Two more runs were added when Virginie Anneveld followed with a triple.
That increased the lead to 5-1 and led to a pitching change, as Quincey Catsburg was inserted.
She saw Anneveld score the sixth run in the inning when she threw a wild pitch.
A grounder ended the long at bat, but Olympia had taken a decisive lead.
Olympia Haarlem scored another run in the sixth inning.
Emma Wójcik then singled and scored on a passed ball with two outs.
Ilona Andringa took over the Olympia-pitching in the top of the sixth inning.
With one out, she gave up a single to Kimberly Jones.
Hereafter, three force play-grounders followed.
First, Jones reached second base safely when an error was made on a grounder by Maxime van Dalen.
But grounders by Lisa Maulden and Marloes Fellinger then successfully resulted in force outs at second base.
Andringa retired the side in the seventh inning to seal the win.
Tonight's game was the first of a split double-header.
The second game will be played coming Thursday-evening.
The games are played midweeks to make room in August when both teams participate in European Cup-tournaments.
