VLEUTEN (Neth.) -
Golden League-team Terrasvogels shutout Silver League-team UVV 8-0 on a chilly Thursday-evening (March 28) at the site of UVV in Vleuten.
On July 23-28, this will be the site for the Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifying Tournament Softball.
Eight teams will participate, six from Europe, two from Africa.
The winner will qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan).
But tonight, it was the site for the exhibition game between Terrasvogels and UVV.
The game was added to the schedule, as several earlier games had to be cancelled due to weather conditions.
For Terravogels, this was its first game of the exhibition season.
Last Saturday, the team initially was to play two games at the site of Hoofddorp Pioniers.
However, due to circumstances, the team decided to withdraw.
Tonight, Roos-Marijn Kramer went the distance for Terrasvogels.
UVV used several pitchers.
Both coaches used the game as a practice session and made several changes throughout the game.
Beforehand, it was decided to play 1½ hour.
In that span, six innings were played.
Coming weekend, Terrasvogels participates in the Haarlem Series at the site of Onze Gezellen in Haarlem.
UVV will participate in the Keistad Tournament at the site of Quick Amersfoort in Amersfoort.
