RCH's previous game | Pioniers' previous game

NIJMEGEN (Neth.) - Konica Minolta Pioniers opened Day 2 of the 20th Jan van de Vegte Memorial Tournament in Nijmegen with a 5-1 win vs. MediaMonks RCH. Hereafter, steady rain made the field unplayable, resulting in the cancelations of the remaining two games. The organization declared Mr. Cocker HCAW winner, as the Bussum-squad played one game and won that. The other teams also won once, but played more games. RCH was the only team being able to play all its three games in this tournament.

,,Luckily, we could play all our three games, so have a little advantage'', RCH's Head Coach Robert Klaver looked back. ,,We were able to use all of our pitchers and give them some innings to throw.'' RCH today started with Al Morales, who this season will be the foreign player on their roster, as he has a Mexican passport. All other foreign players on the RCH-roster have European passports and therefore are not considered foreign.

Pioniers scored its first run in the first at bat. Al Morales hit lead-off batter Michael Duursma, who then advanced on a single by Mervin Gario and a passed ball, then scored on a grounder by Glenn Romney. Next, Jourick Blanco walked and was caught stealing in a double play when Dè Flanegin struckout. RCH came alongside in the second inning. Pionier-starter Daan de Jong walked lead-off hitter Ferd van Stekelenburg, who moved on a grounder by Floris Morang, then scored when a flyball was missed in centerfield with two outs on a hit by Maarten Bos.
