SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (USA) -
The Dutch National Baseball Team on Wednesday-evening played its second exhibition game as part of its preparations for the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
In Scottsdale, at the Spring Training-site of the San Francisco Giants, the Dutch squad this time met the Coyotes, the baseball-team of Chandler-Gilbert Community College in a game that ended in a 4-3 loss.
With the score tied at 3-3 in the home of the ninth inning, Loek van Mil (the fifth Dutch pitcher of the evening) struckout the first two batters he faced, then gave up an infield-hit.
Moments later, the runner took off to steal second base.
Van Mil stepped off and threw the ball to second baseman Dwayne Kemp, who dropped the ball.
A following single then led to the winning run for the Coyotes to end the game.
David Bergman started the game for the Dutch Team and pitched three innings.
He was followed by Kevin Heijstek (3 innings), Berry van Driel (1 inning), Bayron Cornelisse (1 inning) and Loek van Mil (2/3 inning).
More details will be added later when available.
