AMSTERDAM (Neth.) - On Thursday-evening, L&D Amsterdam Pirates came from behind to win 3-2 in 12 innings to hand league-leader DOOR Neptunus its first loss of the season, ending their 10-game winning streak. Neptunus held the lead twice, but both times Amsterdam equaled the score and went on to win.

Neptunus scored an unearned run in the fourth, then Pirates came alongside in the sixth. In the fourth, Benjamin Dille led off with a hard grounder to short stop Nick Urbanus, who then made a great, Major League-play, fielding the ball on the infield-corner at the leftside and throwing out the batter convincingly at first base. Hereafter, Raily Legito singled and advanced on a single by Danny Rombley, then scored when a throwing error followed when it was tried to complete a double play on a grounder by Marvin Bleij. In the sixth, Amsterdam tied the score when Roelie Henrique led off with a walk, moved on two sacrifice bunts and scored on a single by Sidney de Jong.

Neptunus then re-took the lead in the seventh, scoring another unearned run. Marvin Bleij led off with a single and advanced on a sac-bunt by Eldrion Regina. Next, he moved on a single by Martijn Meeuwis, but was able to score when leftfielder Roelie Henriquez committed an error, which he corrected with his bat five innings later.

In the home of the ninth, with Neptunus leading 2-1, two outs and a runner on third base, veteran short stop Jeroen Sluijter appeared to end the game by throwing out batter Zaïr Koeiman, but instead his throw went into the ground, enabling runner Sidney de Jong to tie the score again and force extra innings. This spoiled the start and decision for Dushan Ruzic, who threw eight solid innings, struckout eight batters and gave up only three hits.

In the eleventh inning, Neptunus got a runner on second base, when Raily Legito walked with one out and was awarded second base on a balk. But then, Legito was caught stealing at third base, leading to an argument with the umpires, moments later followed by the third out.

After Neptunus left the bases loaded in the top of the 12th, Amsterdam decided the game moments later. In the Neptunus-twelfth, Marvin Bleij led off with a single, which led to a pitching change. Pim Walsma was replaced by Al Morales Gomes, but the Mexican made an unexpected move by appearing to throw to first base and then stopped, resulting in a balk and a runner in scoring position. Bleij even moved on to third base when Eldrion Regina followed with a sac-bunt. A grounder followed, but then the bases were loaded when the next two batters walked. The inning then ended when Dwayne Kemp flied out. In the home of the 12th, with two outs, Wesley Connor singled, then his pinch-runner Koen Nooij advanced when next batter Michael Kramer was hit by a pitch. After a visit to the mount, Roelie Henrique connected on the first delivery of pitcher Jorian van Acker for a line drive, walk-off, RBI-double into deep rightfield, giving Amsterdam a 3-2 win.

ADO vs. Konica Minolta Pioniers, 10-9 (7 1/2)
THE HAGUE (Neth.) - ADO (which committed five errors) also trailed twice vs. Konica Minolta Pioniers, but that was early in the game. Pioniers took a 3-0 lead in the first, only to see ADO come alongside in its first. Pioniers re-took the lead in the second and again ADO tied the score. From the third inning on, it was ADO's game, which scored six runs in the next three at bats en route to a 10-9 victory in a game that ended after 7 1/2 inning due to the 10:50 PM curfew-rule. Trailing 10-3, Pioniers was able to come back with two runs in the sixth and three in the eighth, but was left empty-handed, losing its fourth game in a row.

In the first inning, a grounder by Mark Duursma, double by Jakub Malik and single by Dè Flanegin gave Pioniers three runs, but in the home of the first, ADO tied the score immediately. A single by Anthony Vrolijk and 2-run homerun by Matt Ryan made it 3-3. Pioniers re-took the lead in the second inning when Jefferson Muzo scored on a throwing error, but again, ADO came alongside in its second at bat on a single by Berti Richardson.

After tying the score for the second time in the second inning, ADO stranded three runners, but then added three runs in the third, thanks to a wild pitch, double by Jeroen Stentler and single by Frans Richardson. Another run was added in the fourth and two more in the fifth to make it 10-4.

Pioniers got two runs back in the sixth inning and brought the tension back by scoring three runs with two outs in the eighth (on only one hit) to come within one run. In the eighth, two errors accounted for two runners and the bases loaded with two outs, then pinch-hitter Jeffrey de Vrieze delivered a 2-run single, followed by a basesloaded walk for Mervin Gario to make it 10-9, but a flyout ended the inning. It also marked the end of the game, as the 10:50 PM curfew-rule was reached, and as the home team was leading, the eighth inning wasn't completed and the game ended officially.

Corendon Kinheim vs. Mr. Cocker HCAW, 2-0
HAARLEM (Neth.) - Corendon Kinheim shutout Mr. Cocker HCAW 2-0, scoring runs in the first and second inning. David Bergman had another good outing on the mound for Kinheim, as he struckout nine batters and gave up only one basehit in seven innings to raise his record to 4-0. Michiel van Kampen threw the ninth inning to earn his fourth save of the season.

Kinheim scored its first run in the first inning with two outs when Jason Halman reached on an infield-hit and scored when Bryan Engelhardt followed with a double. The second run was added in the next at bat. Rodney Michel then struckout, but reached on a passed ball, advanced on a wild pitch and a grounder, then scored on another wild pitch.

In the remainder of the game, Kinheim reached base frequently, but left five runners behind. HCAW stranded five, including runners on third base in the second, seventh and ninth inning. In the ninth, Michael Pluijmers and Bart Gabriëls singled with only one out, but then Michiel van Kampen retired the next two batters.

Sparta-Feyenoord vs. Almere Magpies, 3-8
ROTTERDAM (Neth.) - Almere Magpies was the third team on Thursday-evening to trail, but turn the game into its own favor. Almere was outhit 7-4 by Sparta-Feyenoord, but won 8-3. Leading 3-1, Sparta-Feyenoord made a surprise pitching change. Starter Tim Roodenburg was pitching a No-Hitter for six innings, but was relieved by Herman Gaarman when the seventh inning started and then the problems started. The lefthander walked the first batter, then lost the No-Hitter and left after three batters. His reliever Raynard Doran took over with the bases loaded, but then issued two walks, which tied the score, followed by two runscoring singles, that gave Almere a 6-3 lead.

Sparta-Feyenoord opened the score with two runs in the third inning on a single by Nick Eppinga and double by Percy Isenia, which by the way also resulted in a rundown-out with runner José Ventura (who also had singled) being eliminated after reaching third base. The home team made it 3-0 in the fifth inning when Ventura singled again and scored on a sac-fly by Ramiro Balentina.

Almere got one run back in the sixth inning when Sytse Visbeen led off with a walk and scored on a 2-out error. After throwing a No-Hitter in six innings, Sparta-Feyenoord starter Tim Roodenburg was replaced when the seventh inning started. Roodenburg was bothered with a finger-injury and Head Coach Luty Bernadina afterwards also stated that his starter had thrown enough pitches. ,,We don't want to overload our pitchers. It is a long season, but unfortunately, hereafter, we lost the No-Hitter'', Bernadina said.

In the sixth, Almere collected only three basehits, but two pitchers addded four walks. After reliever Herman Gaarman got the bases loaded with two walks and a single to Siegert Flaneur (which broke the No-Hitter), he was replaced by Raynard Doran, who then issued two runscoring walks. These were followed by singles by Joey Berkenbosch (one-run) and Giovanni Samboe (2-run) and a runscoring double play-grounder to make it 7-3 in Almere's favor. Almere added a run in the eighth on a grounder by Wesley Bernardus.
